American Journal of Clinical Nutrition Sept 2003 says 100 x more water ( and similar for fossil fuels and other materials) is used to produce animal protein compared to the same weight in plant protein. This is published research showing that it is reckless and selfish to eat animal protein - the least you could do is cut your consumption to not more than 3 x a week
plus your risk of Heart disease, cancer and most other disease will be markedly reduced

Water Saving – Your diet can save the most water
Every year in the Western Cape and in most provinces or countries, we are bombarded with stories of how we are about to run out of water because of the current drought.
We have severe restrictions placed on us when it comes to using the garden hose, yet never (that I am aware of) once has anyone discussed the most important aspect of water saving – your diet …
... Did you know
1. A plant diet requires only 300 (just over 1000 litres) gallons of water per day to produce enough plant protein for 1 person.
2. A meat-eating diet requires more than 4,000 (just over 15 000 litres) gallons of water per day to produce animal based protein consumed in a typical omnivorous diet.
3. You save more water by not eating a 500g of beef than you do by not showering for an entire year.
So by just having one day a week that is meat free you would save would save 15000 litres each week
15000 litres x 52 weeks in the year = 780 000 litres of water
This is what would be saved per person per year by not eating any animal protein for just 1 day per week, per year.
While millions of people across the globe are faced with droughts and water shortages, much of the world's water supply is quietly being diverted to animal agriculture. As the Western diet spreads to the rest of the world, even desert nations in Africa and the Middle East are pouring what little water they have into meat production.
It is clear that raising animals for food puts a tremendous strain on our already limited water supply, and water is used much more efficiently when it goes toward producing crops for human consumption.
Next let’s look at the amount of water used just to cool and clean the equipment used to make processed drinks and foods like colas and soft drinks
The amount used to produce cigarettes
The amount used to grow grapes and other plants to produce alcohol
Seriously if anyone really believed we had a water shortage this is where they would start – not harping on about watering your garden and washing your car!

...1. Eat a minimum of 1 side plate of raw veg before eating anything cooked.
2. Have 1 full meal of fruit per day.
