I remember spending a very long time making the mask around the cables and pieces of the London Eye (the giant ferris wheel), so you’d be able to see the Sky Kitten through it. I was never quite happy with the way I did the clouds, but in retrospect perhaps that adds something to the image.

It was a very busy time in my life - I'd just finished my PhD and I was working hard to make money from creative work (animations and games). Because pictures like this were quick to make, I’d been making a series of images of strange creatures invading London, and this giant kitten seemed like a very adorable turn of events. I was living in the UK and grew up in South London, so London was an obvious choice of a city for a giant kitten to loom over!

These days I'm a video game designer and writer, best known for Fragments of Him (which I made with Sassybot http://fragmentsofhim.com/ ) and I have started a new business called Copper Stone Sea ( http://www.copperstonesea.com/ ), which will be releasing a new game in the upcoming years. Most of my time is spent teaching and researching video game development at Breda University of Applied Sciences - a top-ten globally rated educational course for video game developers based in the Netherlands. In my spare time I also take photos and paint ( http://art.matazone.co.uk/ ). Creativity is still very much part of my life!

I'm only in Brazil very quickly (literally a few nights, and my carbon-footprint-guilt is strong for this) so won't be travelling around, but if you're at the festival it would be lovely to say hello in person!
