As we continue to rework how we all interact socially, it was amazing to see how our residents rethought commemorating Memorial Day. Jim Lanpher’s moving rendition of Taps opened a parade of vehicles that navigated a route throughout Vergennes. This community’s resilience and spirit fill me with pride day after day.

A few months ago my State House colleagues Rep Laura Sibilia & Rep Lisa Hango asked me to join them in forming and co-chairing a National Guard Caucus. With a large scale deployment ramping up for next year we felt it was important to establish a formal support apparatus within the legislature.

This nonpartisan caucus currently numbers 20 members from across the political spectrum. We will host monthly meetings on a range of issues pertainin...g the VTNG including, but not exclusive to the upcoming deployment.

Last Thursday Brig. Gen. Gregory Knight invited us to join him and his team for the day so we could get a better sense of what they do. We toured multiple ranges during exercises, received a briefing on the deployment, visited the Mountain Training School facility and the biathlon training site. #vtng #leglyfe
