SUPPLEMENTS... Should you?

A common question I receive is "Should I be taking supplements and if so, what should I take?"

...

First...
Understand we are all very unique in our needs and there are so many variables to consider. But, in general, vitamins and minerals are essential nutrients that assist our biochemistry and help run every system in the body.

Having said that, I do recommend the following as a basic foundation:

1. A good quality multiple vitamin with nutrients that are bio available and tested for purity.
2. Vitamin D for prevention of chronic disease, brain function, bone and muscle health and much more.
3. Omega 3 for brain function, heart health, and its anti inflammatory properties.
4. Magnesium which is responsible for over 3,000 functions in the body. To name a few...calms the nervous system, supports digestion, helps balance hormones, promotes sleep, etc...The exception here is individuals with kidney disease or severe heart disease in which case it is advised you consult with your physician.
