Yesterday, we laid to rest a one-of-a-kind role model, public servant, veteran, husband, father and friend.
His unprecedented humility, unwavering faith, and exemplary leadership built a family out of our community. As many highlighted in the memorial service, each of his friends, most of which felt more like extended family, meant something quite special to him.
As you gather with your family and friends today, please remember the endless gratitude we owe to Mayor Land and his family and lift them up in prayer.

Our hearts are heavy today as we mourn the loss of a great man.
At age 94, Mayor John Land was widely recognized as the longest serving mayor in the nation with over 60 years of steadfast service to the citizens of Apopka. More importantly, he was tremendous father, devoted husband, an "uncle" to many not even in his family, and a friend to anyone he met. Please keep Mayor Land, his family and friends, and the community he built in your thoughts and prayers.
A sincere thank you to all who were able to attend last night's Council Meeting.
