I have always enjoyed MF until today when trying to open an account for my school aged child. I was told that I had to have a original birth certificate with the seal on it to open the account. Didn't... matter that my child has a picture ID or ss#. I called the 800# to verify and was told this was their policy and we would be asked for this at any financial institution.
While I wanted my children's first financial experiences to be with a credit union that I believe in and fully support, the local bank had no trouble opening the account and didn't even ask to see a birth certificate, let alone an original.
While I enjoy the staff at my local MF and have almost always had good service, if I was only rating today's experience it would have been 1 star.

I have been with Members First since I was 18 and this past year they have done nothing but screw me and tell me it’s my fault. The latest situation that happened was I was working with Mark Livernois... to set up a retirement account a few months ago. They take $50 out of my check every two weeks. A couple weeks ago I wanted to switch the bank account that it came out up so he sent me the forms that I needed to fill out. I was confused on what I had to do so he walked me through what I had to fill out. I told him I wanted to keep everything the same the same amount of money coming out of each paycheck I just wanted to switch the bank account that I came out of. He told me what I needed to write on the form and told me where I needed to sign. I got the first withdraw this week and double the amount of money I was planning on came out of my account. I called Mark and he told me it was my fault I signed the paperwork I should’ve known. I told him he’s the one that walked me through it, and he said it doesn’t matter I signed the paperwork. I asked him if he could reverse the fee that was charged because my account went into the negative, and he said he couldn’t do that for me since it was my fault I signed the paperwork. I will never be using members first credit union again we’re talking about a $20 fee and he couldn’t reverse it because it was “my fault”. He is willing to lose a customer over $20. So I will be using a different bank from now on and I hope everybody is aware that Mark doesn’t care about his customers and if you do something with him just know what you’re doing because it’s on you. I should’ve done more research and understood the paperwork better but I trusted that he would do the right thing. See More

This past year has been very frustrating for myself and my husband. They fired our regular loan officer and the added insurance on our car that already had insurance on it. Then it took me week to get... my insurance to send them the correct information. Turns out I missing information that MFCU neglected to tell me the 5 times I called to ask what else was needed from me. See More

They keep drawing from my savings with my debit card and PayPal despite having hundreds in my checking and despite speaking with them about this?!? This bank with just rip you off. Dow Chemical is way... better. Bank with them, not Members First. See More

At this point, after 5 MONTHS trying to get an ATM card activated when they closed it for non- use, I am beyond frustrated! Also, my last TWO CD maturity notifications were dated via MFCU the day the ...CDs matured! The one notification arrived after the 10 day grace period. Three times, yes three times over 5 MONTHS, I was assured I would receive my ATM card. Twice I had the notification of PIN and last 4 digits of the new card. Never arrived. On another try, I was told the card had never been ordered. They wanted me to open a checking account and get a debit card. NO!!! I already have a checking account with a BANK and have had for the last 40 years. I do not need a debt card. Where is the customer service?! GGGRRRRR All this because I wanted to keep my accounts and money locally. I guess they really don't care. This made me so sad. I wish I hadn't been such a sucker to remain loyal. See More

Not impressed. I have NEVER had an issue with my checking until now. There are SEVERAL transactions on my account that the math isn’t even close to adding up!!!! When I questioned them about it we fou...nd NSF fees charged months ago when there was more than enough money to cover the charge. There was enough that I didn’t even notice the charge. Best part? There records didn’t match the ones on my app. There charges never showed up on my app. There answer? They can only reverse 3 charges. Even if it’s there mistake. Wait? What?????? Stay far away! If you run into problems don’t say you weren’t warned!!! This place needs a serious audit from the feds!!! See More

**Specifically toward the Dartmouth branch** This would be negative millions if that were an option. Condescending tones from employees and managers who don't know what they are talking about anyway.... They talk about being helpful and finding your happy and they couldn't care less!! I will spread the word to the 300 + people I work with and anyone else.. DON'T PUT YOUR MONEY HERE. Live/learn-never again! See More

Hard to know where to start... Given conflicting information more than once. Wasted A LOT of time attempting to log in - website down for days (CS said I could keep trying..and trying..and trying and ...I might get in. C/D card only partially input by rep? $2 charge for cashier's checks - they were free at FedCom. Was able to track my mortgage on FedCom site - w/ mfcu i had to sign up at mortgage site to view online, and they needed my entire SSN - is this 1996? Only bright side I've seen with this change over is mfcu retained our billpay info, and even that has a $19.95 fee for a one day pay now. I want to add that I love the FedCom staff at the Breton branch, and if they disappear so will I. See More

Very very happy with the Hiram, GA branch, I will drive farther just to go there. We went to the Douglasville, GA branch and it was an awful experience. Lady didn't want to help us with our large chec...k and I had savings bonds. No issues at the Hiram branch. Very professional and fast. We switched from a bank to this and I will never go back! My account has been hacked 2x. Where is the customers safety? Yet I have to change password every couple months or I am unable to access my own account. Get better system to protect your customers. 9 ...transactions for same amount and same place, it didn't make anyone think there was a red flag? Very saddened and upset, yet they have cancelled card and sent an email. See More

Bravo ���� because of maternity leave, my wife was just told she doesn't apply for this whatever loan...has had the same employer, with direct deposit, for 5 years, and for four years we've gotten the... whatever loan, never messed a payment up and all because of having maternity leave, she was told, too bad... This merge with fedcom has become more of a problem for us than the credit union we've loved for years!!!!!! See More

I was charged $5 for returned mail?? It costs 50 cents to mail letters......
I also was called in 2x over 3 years after I got married and changed my name with them so they could copy my identificatio...n and get my new signature on file again! I had given these things to them at least 2x before! See More

Not impressed with the policies this credit union has in place. Can't look up an account number with a name anymore? That's just ridiculous. Will never get a loan here again.

They took my car payment out 4 times in the month of December and never made it right.
I called 3 times and went in...still never made it right.

I miss my old credit union. Mfcu bought them out and quite frankly, they suck. The website and app are down more often than they’re working. Currently looking for new options.

Staff was rude on the phone and sounded put out when they had to explain something. Even then, they never would fully discuss an issue. I loved FED COM and ever since the change, which hasn't been lon...g, I am thinking of closing my account. See More
