No one is above the law despite what the GOP leadership thinks in Harrisburg.
"When elected officials openly attack the judiciary, or even worse, openly defy a court order, they are violating a sacred principle enshrined in our system of government: no one, particularly a public servant who has taken an oath to uphold the law, stands above it."

Voicing your displeasure is one thing - threatening them with impeachment or other sanction is something else entirely

Gov. Wolf made the right call here. The GOP proposed map would have carved the city of Reading into a primarily Lancaster County district.

A professor hired by Wolf said the proposed map is an outlier that heavily favors Republicans after comparing it to millions of computer-drawn maps.

PA Supreme Court rules that PA Congressional District maps are unconstitutional!!!

From the PA Supreme Court...the congressional map “clearly, plainly and palpably violates the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and, on that sole basis, we hereby strike it as unconstitutional.”
Lawmakers have until Feb 9 to draw new maps and the Governor has until Feb 15 to approve maps. If not the court will adopt its own maps.

...

This is a big win for all of us that believe partisan gerrymandering needs to come to an end!

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Monday threw out the state's congressional map as unconstitutionally gerrymandered and gave lawmakers until Feb. 9 to redraw the boundaries, a decision that will have major ramifications for the 2018 midterm elections.

I am optimistic that the PA Supreme Court will make the right decision and strike down PA's gerrymandered congressional districts. These partisan controlled maps violate voters constitutional rights. I live in PA Congressional District 7, the poster child for Gerrymandering. This district is unbelievably gerrymandered - stringing together disparate communities miles away throughout 4 counties!

Berks County is especially gerrymandered with four congressional districts rando...mly cutting through the county. Berks County makes up no more than 25% (and much less) of any of these 4 districts leaving us without a voice in Washington DC.

We cannot go another election cycle with these maps in place! While the logistics to create new maps for this primary season may present some challenges, these are challenges that can and should be overcome.
