...MDC DSA members will protest outside the Venezuela embassy in Georgetown to demand "No War, No Coup, No Sanctions Anymore" and show our solidarity with the peace activists heroically preventing an illegal seizure of the embassy by the coup government.
Meet us at the embassy at 6:00 PM.
With war criminals like John Bolton, Mike Pompeo, and Elliott Abrams at the helm, the US is trying to foment a coup in Venezuela and threaten the country with US military intervention. In spite of humanitarian pretexts, since 2017 alone, US sanctions have killed 40,000 Venezuelans. A US war would be catastrophic and kill many more innocent Venezuelans.
Peace activists have been living inside the embassy, with the permission of the Venezuelan government, to prevent its illegal takeover. Rightwing, coup supporters have been rallying outside trying to block the peace activists from receiving food and medicine and generally trying to drive them out of the embassy.
US anti-war activists have been continuously protesting outside the embassy in support of the "embassy protectors" inside and against a US war with Venezuela. While the situation is fluid and it is important for folks to be there whenever they can make it, on May 10, 2019 we are planning for a DSA contingent at the embassy protests. The embassy is located in Georgetown at 1099 30th St NW # 2, Washington, DC 20007.

Join Metro DC Democratic Socialists for an inaugural strategy sessio...n on an organization-led effort to elect democratic socialists to Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANCs). ANCs are a hyper-local form of government unique to the District of Columbia. Commissioners represent about 2,000 constituents and provide input to the DC Council on various issues of public concern, including zoning, development, and public safety. Both individuals interested in running as a DSA-affiliated candidate or in devising strategies for successful campaigning are encouraged to attend. We will be discussing lessons learned from our 2018 ANC electoral efforts, how to run, how to win, and the ways we can expand the power and scope of ANCs towards a socialist vision for the future.
