Mi-STAR pilot tested two new units in the fall. The sixth-grade unit, 6.4, introduces students to force and motion through the story of a boy who totals his cell phone. In unit 7.4, seventh graders will learn about thermal energy transfer as they help a local animal shelter solve a puzzling problem. Read more here.
Planning to attend the MSTA conference? MSTA is now accepting applications for conference attendee stipends! Assistance is available for membership, registration, sub-pay, and for pre-service teachers, help in getting to the conference.
Mi-STAR always knew it wouldn't be able to give in-person training to each of Michigan's many middle school science teachers. So this fall, it launched a train-the-trainer program that provides face-to-face education and ongoing support to representatives from districts throughout the state.
