This latest episode was prompted by my reading of Serhii Plokhy’s account of the Chernobyl disaster, where, right there in the opening pages, was the name of Hans Blix. Remember him? He was the U.N. weapons inspector who kept saying that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction and who, as a result, was slandered and traduced by Bush administration officials high and low. Colin Powell lied right there at the UN about what Blix’s inspectors had found in Iraq. From McClatchy:
U.S. Ambassador John Negroponte told Security Council members during the private briefing that the declaration "is an insult to our intelligence and indeed an insult to this council," according to people who attended.
Blix was telling the truth. The administration was lying. It got us into a war based on those lies.” See More
