Dogs of war are man's best friend in battle
War Dogs and PTSD
MWD Route Clearance - American Forces Network Afghanistan

From the US War Dogs Association: "Every handler has that one dog. The one dog that they learned the most from, that they compared every other dog they work with against. That dog for me was Kane (K353). Today Traci and I had to say goodbye to Kane. He had a ruptured spleen, which for a 13 year old pup was not something we could fix. He was a true patriot and my hero. I literally followed him to the ends of the earth and he brought me back in one piece. Please pass the word to anyone else that may have known Kane. Rest easy Huri-Kane."

“I feel like I needed to share my husband's post here. Like any spouse of a handler, I was comforted knowing anytime he left on a TDY or deployment, he was safe because Kane always had his back.”

Having been around all branches of military most of my life. I know what they go through not an easy task for anyone BUT when it comes to defending our troops the military working soldier goes above a...nd beyond dedication. I am happy to see them coming back because I lobbied very hard to make sure no soldier is ever left behind.

Having been a dog handler it was one of the best experiences of my life. I got to meet and work with so many handlers, that many of them remain my friends to this day.

This a wonderful website!
These dogs and their handlers deserve to be highlighted for their service to all of us civilians around the world.

Just finished reading the book "War Dogs" by Rebecca Frankel. I've always loved animals, especially dogs. But now I have a new respect for them and for the people who train them.

I enjoy following MWD, they bring awareness to the public the "dogpower" these canines bring to the military.
