When is Montpelier going to fix their roads? I started working in the city a year ago and I cannot believe how terrible the city roads are. They have pot hole patches over patches over patches and it ...just ruins cars. I've had more wear and tear issues with my car this past year then I've ever had in the 8 years I've owned my car. I feel like a bobble-head when I drive the residential streets and even the main routes. Barre St, Liberty St, Hubbard St, School St, College St, Sibley, Granite St, Saint Paul St, I could go on and on. I saw lots of work being done on sidewalks this fall and only 1 small street that was paved (Heaton). As the Vermont's capital how are you not ashamed of how bad the roads are. The City of Montpelier has A LOT of work to do. Get to it!!! See More

I don't know where this rumor came from but it is not true!! I have been asked why would the merchants want to shut this event down. It is absurd to even think that we would not want an event for such... a great cause to be eliminated. It's a great show for the kids and it is FOR the kids. So come show your support this Saturday!! I'm speaking for Woodbury Mountain Toys, and we have always supported the Bike Run. Bob from Capitol Grounds also supports this. I am pretty sure every business on State Street does.

Bittersweet. This morning the old Brown Derby Restaurant is being taken down. Good news for neighbors unhappy with the eyesore; good news for emergency responders who worried about how unsafe the buildings had become. At the same time, the Brown Derby is part of Montpelier's history. Lawmakers of both parties put aside their partisan differences to enjoy evenings together here (and probably do a little law-making, too). A friend met his future wife here more than 20 years ago. Families came, friends came, officials came. So there is a touch of sadness in watching this building fall. Share your memories ....

We're so lucky that Union Elementary School students have put their all-school community art project on display here in City Hall. The quilt is covered with the students' hand-prints and with the word love spelled in the languages they speak at home. We are so moved by the inspiration behind it. Thank you for spreading the love, students!
