Children ages 4-7 are in critical need of learning more about compassion, courage and respecting others. Discrimination and bullying are an epidemic and this book will teach children important lessons to reverse these issues. In this 32 page picture book, Junga and his grandmother go on an adventure only to be treated harshly because they look different from the natives. Children learn that we all have a purpose and you cannot judge someone by their looks.
We are asking for p...re-orders/pledges and Corporate Sponsors. -
- Pledges start from $4 to receive an eBook, $25 for signed book.
- Corporate Sponsors purchase 50 books for $15 each and another $250 gets your company name or favorite charity name printed in the book.
Many different levels are listed on the Kickstarter site. All funds are being used to produce this book and the backer rewards.

In this book, I detail the importance of overcoming negative experiences from childhood. Forgiving those who may have hurt you and moving on with your life. Thankfully I took my own advice and learned how to have a great relationship with my father before he died. I hope my book encourages others to do the same. I'm sharing this very personal note with you because I was able to enjoy over 4 years with my dad before he passed in December. Someone out there may just need to see this to mend their own relationships.
Please support this great cause with a pledge! Rewards start from $4 and go up to Executive Producer levels. Thanks for helping us reach more children with positive messages.
KHTS, the radio station in my hometown Valencia, California wrote this great article supporting my book! I have been asked to do book signings in town. Thank you to all who pledge and share!
My last picture with my dad on Dec 30, 2017, moments before he went to heaven. Its a wake up call to finish my Junga, the Dancing Yeti children's book. My dad really wanted to see the book be a success and I wish he were still here to see how it is now progressing. Miss you, Joseph Tako
Need referrals for a printer for the Junga the Dancing Yeti children's book. If you can recommend a printer located in Southern California, Atlanta, GA or Northern, Ohio, it would be most appreciated. Thank you!
Finding motivation to complete a project comes from within.
Thought I'd share an article I published on LinkedIn:
"Conquering a Dream through Perseverance"
When we have an obtainable dream or passion to create something,... we are the ones who get in our way. We are the ones who make it happen or destroy the dream. We are the ones to credit or blame for the outcome of our obtainable dreams.
In early 2011, I played a yeti (abominable snowman) in a film and for the past seven years, I've been developing a connection between my passion to help people who have been victims of bullying and this yeti character. I've had several incarnations of projects including three music videos, two original songs on iTunes, two anti-bullying Public Service Announcement videos, an anti-bullying fundraiser for a non-profit organization and in-character appearances at literacy and charity events.
But the one thing that has eluded me is the completion of my first Junga, the Dancing Yeti children's book. The book series has an anti-bullying theme in each story and the first book, which was started in 2014, is now ready to be illustrated. I never imagined it would take this long to get to this point, but I also never gave up.
Most people are either too afraid of failure, can't figure out how to start, or just don't think they could ever complete a book worthy of a sizable audience. Trust me, I've had these feelings enter into my head as well and it's my job to change my state of mind. I've done live readings to children in Scotland, Ireland and United States and kids love the story and now love the illustrations by former Disney animator Peter Gullerud.
Life got in the way and distracted me from my goal, but maybe it's because the timing wasn't quite right for me and Junga. The sudden death of my father two weeks ago reminded me of how precious life is and that we are responsible for the direction of our lives. He really liked the story of Junga and wanted to see it's success. So I'm now Motivated to Act upon this dream. Motivated to take the action needed to introduce Junga, the Dancing Yeti to the world and hope that kids of all ages embrace his story.
In the first book, Junga and his grandmother travel to a new place to spend winter together and are mistreated and judged harshly by the locals. Children learn the importance of not judging others by their looks and that we all have a place in the world to co-exist.
The second book in the series introduces Heidi who becomes Junga's best friend. They uncover the reason why they have become targets of a local bully and how to help him. This forms a new bond of unlikely friends.
Please help support the Kickstarter fundraiser starting mid-January 2018 to help introduce this lovable cast of children's characters to the world. My dream only starts with the completion of the books. The true dream is to help end bullying for many people by using this character to set excellent examples for children.
About the Author: As an anti-bullying advocate, I've hosted about 30 episodes of my YouTube anti-bullying talk show "Tako Talk". The focus has been interviewing former bullying victims and bullies as well as sports celebrities and therapists who offer advice to children and adults who are targets of bullying. One episode was credited with saving the life of a teenager on the verge of committing suicide.
In Hollywood, California, I've worked as an actor for movies and television shows as well as hosting a variety of Red Carpet award shows including the Los Angeles Movie Awards and the New York Los Angeles International Film Festival.
Also, I am the published author of Motivated to Act (2012) and motivational speaker to teens and adults about the damaging effects of bullying and how to increase one's self-confidence
MEDITATION OF THE DAY
Tuesday Jan 16, 2018
"Many people seem to worry themselves a great deal more over the things they cannot help than over the things that they can. ... This want of proportion is doubtless observable in myself. Do I think more of the accidents of birth, fortune, and personal appearance than of the self that I have created? For I myself am responsible for myself. 'To be born a gentleman is an accident; to die one is an achievement.' Other things, then, I ma...y not be able to help; but myself, I can. As I am at this very moment, as my character is—truthful or untruthful, pure or impure, patient or impatient, slow to wrath or quick-tempered, eager, enthusiastic, energetic, or lazy and dull and wasteful of time—I have no one to thank but myself ... the fact remains that I myself alone am responsible for my own character; for character is an artificial thing that is not born, but made."
