Take a look at this exclusive footage courtesy of Bridgeman Images which shows how the art department replicated Turner’s paintings for the big screen.

- Most depressing film of the year. Mr Turner is portrayed as an oaf.... No, that is too kind. Less than an oaf, a creature that is closer to a beast or an animal than an entity with any humanity. Every act seemed to portray him in a most unflattering light....except of course when he is painting, which is minimized and at best a sidebar to this artist's insipid and disgusting existence. Alternatively boring, or undignified at most every moment of his life, he often prefers to grunt as opposed to talking. Of course the producer couldn't help but inject a little of the hackneyed theme of white western civilization being despicably evil; a requirement to get any consideration from the 'Academy.' Scene after scene a constant descent into banalities or depravities. Mr. Turner and his father choose to mock the memory of Mr. Turner's mother right as the dad is passing. The son then decides to mourn, at a whore house. How uplifting. And when he mourns, he mourns in a way no other human has ever mourned, again seemingly more as a beast than as a person. I had to stop watching halfway thru the film. If you desire your films to at least occasionally showcase a likable character, you may be disappointed. Redeeming human traits are mostly censored from the script. See More
