The location on High Street is ridiculous. We needed access to a computer to print 2 pages. We went to the library because it was two blocks from my office. I was informed I would have to pay a $20 fe...e in order to get a library card so I could then access one of the public computers. Bit they only do that if your ID shows a Chesapeake of VB address. SLOWEST, most busted internet EVER!!! But the staff is lovely and the location is nice. Decent selection of books. If the staff wasn't so cute and helpful i would rarely come in here.

I would love to be setup for a book signing for Black History Month early on before all dates are taken. Hopefully I could get a Saturday date for either the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Saturday In February.

Happy Holidays from your PPL!

In honor of the late Stephen Hawking several of his books including a children's book series and biographies have been added to the Portsmouth Public Library, RB Digital E-Book Collection.

One of these things is not like the other.. but you may have a "Hard Times" figuring out which. #findKwame #Portsmouthpubliclibrary #tidewaterReads2018 #PPL

Many things changed after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. Men were drafted, women rolled up their sleeves and built war supplies, and dogs were called to duty.

Dogs for Defense was a program initiated by Mrs. Alene Erlanger. Along with the American Kennel Club and a handful of breeders, the group aimed to train the dogs for military use.

Over the years the military, police and rescue have developed a variety of training methods for K9 units. Their training is tailored to meet the demands of the job and each animal and handler carries out his or her duties to the fullest.
