A good change has been that they have stopped providing Parle G biscuits and have starred providing Chikki, Rajgira laddoo, etc once a week. All SHGs were of the opinion that there should be more variety of meals for children...

This is just the beginning..CACR will continue to work on this issue and help in ensuring better quality of meals for children in municipal schools...

Can we help #SelfHelpGroups improve the quality of Khichadi for children in municipal schools?
An attempt to reach out to Cooks and Supervisors of these groups from Central Suburbs and detailed discussion and a presentation on Foid Safety Standards, Personal Hygiene and improved cooking techniques, etc by our Respected Nutritionist Mrs Shubhangini Joshi was very well attended by almost 70 people and officials of MCGM Education Department Mid Day Meals Section...

Very interact...ive..and some important findings :-
1. To improve the checks on quantity and quality of Rice provided to the SHGs
2. Nutritional Value declared in GR can be met ONLY if children(class I to IV) eat the quantity of 275/300 gms of Khichadi per child and 400+ gms per child in Class V to VIII, ASSUMING that the right quality and quantity of ingredients are used while preparing Khichadi...
3. Cooking Costs to be reviewed periodically by the State Government.

Does it make any sense to provide ONLY Rice and varied types of Khichadi to children 6 days every week?

We will be meeting many more SHGs shortly...based on which we will submit a report to the concerned authorities....
