In a long stretch between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, predominantly Black communities in Cancer Alley have been forced to survive alongside more than 150 heavily polluting chemical plants and refineries. Families there have suffered from the cumulative impacts of fossil fuel pollution for decades - and our laws often ignore those cumulative impacts in making permitting decisions or sharing public health resources.
Chair Raul M. Grijalva and Congressman Donald A. McEachin’s #EnviroJusticeNow bill would fix this. Join us on Thursday, September 17, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern time as we hear from community leaders in Cancer Alley for the second event in our ongoing national #EnviroJusticeNow tour.
Louisiana is still recovering from Hurricane Laura. Natural disasters are getting worse. We’re amplifying voices left out of the usual conversation about public health and how to protect vulnerable communities. Join us as we discuss how #EnvironmentalJustice plays a role in making live safer and healthier for American children, families and neighborhoods.
Our towns and cities didn’t choose to be dumping grounds. It’s time to give political and legal power back to the people to protect themselves.

Chair Raúl M. Grijalva and Rep. A. Donald McEachin have been researching, listening and working with the public for more than a year to put together the Environmental Justice for All Act. We’ve hosted an #EnvironmentalJustice tour to visit and hear from voices that are often left out of the conversation. Now we continue the fight for justice with a legislative hearing on our #EnviroJusticeNow bill on Thursday, October 1. Join us at 12:00 p.m. Eastern time as we discuss a bill the public helped write that really achieves environmental justice and restores civil rights.

The president oversaw the destruction of Native American history, rare desert water sources, endangered species habitats and more to build a racist border wall.
Thanks to Laiken Jordahl and others fighting every single day, often without recognition, to restore what we've lost.

Living and working along the U.S.-Mexico border has meant watching the surreal, slow-motion leveling of the fragile ecosystems I’ve spent my career fighting to protect.

Our #PublicLands can help bring our country back together – but first, we’ve got to protect them.
America’s national parks are changing for the worse. We’ve got to #ActOnClimate to protect them for generations to come. See Raul M. Grijalva’s latest op ed.

Instead of stewardship, images from Trump’s America show the cost of greed and mismanagement. National parks and public lands are places that can provide us with healing in difficult times — but they also need healing themselves.
