- Dear friends, fans, casual listeners, and fellow musicians,
It’s been awhile since you’ve heard anything from us. We played our last show in Browne’s Addition in Spokane and then retreated into the shadows, so we could work on new material. However, much more has been going on, and we would like to fill everyone in, as there are some rumors floating around and it’s become pretty obvious to all ...of you that some changes have happened for Nude Pop.
First: it is true. Nude Pop is no longer a band. Our two-month tour with friends/mentors/label heads El Ten Eleven was an incredible experience, and all of our lives changed travelling across the country, meeting all of you, and sharing our music with you. We desperately want to hit the road again, and share the new music we’ve been working on in our current incarnation, but we will not be touring again as Nude Pop, performing the songs from our demos and the Splintered Selves EP. Over the past summer, we reached a point where we weren’t all on the same page as far as the commitment it would take to push the band to the next level. Nathan, our vocalist/guitar-player left the band to pursue his other passions including sustainable agriculture and natural farming, and rather than try to continue on without all of the original members and without the original chemistry, we decided to end the band on a high note. However, we are not done playing music, and still have lots of great ideas that we want to bring to fruition. Which brings us to our new project!
We've been enamored with one of Spokane's best, Hannah Reader (My Pinky Has A Name), for a long time. Our first show together was in a boxing ring, and she was there to play at our last show as Nude Pop too. The respect and admiration we've had for each other’s projects has always been mutual. Also, as many of you know, Hannah is just a rad person, so we mustered up the courage to approach her about a possible collaboration. After sharing some ideas about musical direction, we decided to get together and jam with Hannah on some undeveloped ideas of ours as well as some of hers. As soon as we plugged in, new ideas started to flow forth.
Writing with Hannah has felt very natural, and it has been rewarding to head in a new direction. Our sound has become more focused, but also more expansive. Hannah’s exceptional vocal talent and keyboard chops have brought us to a new level, and it has been a thrill creating a new band together. We are currently upgrading our recording gear so we can get our new songs up for you all to hear, and will soon be scheduling shows.
We are really, really excited to be moving forward with our music and we hope that you’ll stick with us throughout these new developments. We’ll be using all of the old Nude Pop channels (Facebook, Twitter, email) to keep you all updated about the new project, and you’ll be the first to know about new music and shows. We are so grateful for the support we've received from you all over the past few years, and we are excited to share the new material!
