【Global Solidarity statement against mass arrests and physical assaults on pro-democracy activists】
We are outraged by the mass arrests of Hong Kong pro-democracy activists starting on 30 August, including: Demosisto founding members Joshua Wong and Agnes Chow, former HKU Student Union president Althea Suen, district councillor Rick Hui, lawmakers Cheng Chung-tai, Au Nok-hin, Jeremy Tam, and pro-independence party leader Andy Chan.
...Yesterday, pro-democracy activists Jimmy Sham (convenor of the Civil Human Rights Front CHRF) and Max Chung (organiser of the Yuen Long protests) were viciously attacked by thugs with knives and metal poles. A reporter and a civilian were also injured trying to protect them.
These arrests and targeted assaults follow in the wake of over 900 arrests of protesters since the start of the anti-extradition movement in June. There are verified reports of systematic police violence and torture of detainees, as well as denial of access to legal counsel, in blatant contravention of the rights guaranteed to Hongkongers by the Sino-British Joint Declaration, the Hong Kong Basic Law, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The timing of these arrests and attacks, combined with the ban on the large August 31 protest planned by CHRF, is a clear and cowardly attempt by the Hong Kong and Chinese governments to spread state terrorism and intimidate Hongkongers into submission.
Over 25 Global Solidarity events have been planned to coincide with the banned August 31 march. Our determination to stand with Hong Kong in the face of political suppression and authoritarian intimidation has never been stronger. Our freedoms of expression and assembly are under grievous assault, but Hongkongers will not be cowed.
Hong Kong is on the forefront of the global battle against authoritarianism for human rights and democracy. We call on the international community to stand with Hong Kong!

這個故事其實想說很久了，話說2019年8月11日，在深水埗，抗爭者面對開槍快速轉移陣地後，其實是處於警察隨時進攻或開槍的危險對峙狀態，卻有位醉酒大叔嚷著要上前和警察理論，而事實上這是極危險的舉動，所以就出現了這個公主抱的畫面，一位抗爭者衝前抱起大叔上行人路往後方跑，再說服他不要以身犯險(不過大叔應該真是有點醉....)，在這種兵凶戰危的環境，去冒險救一個不認識甚至不算抗爭者的人，其實是很天真的，不過這種天真，卻很美很珍貴.......

Then, a drunken man push forward and yelled to let him... make sense with the police. Actually it’s a very dangerous move, so it came to this “carrying-the-princess-in-the-arms” scene - a protester spirited up, carried him in his arms, quickly moved back, and tried to talk him out not to risk it with his own life (but the man probably too drunk to understand). In such a perilous and uncertain moment, one could risk it all to save a stranger, who was literally NOT even a protester, was pretty naive at the least. It’s so naive, but unbashfully beautiful…//

親友表示，台灣新竹人李孟居曾經講過話想過關深圳，後來喺 8.20 傳送過一張解放軍喺香港邊境集結嘅相之後，就同親友失去聯絡。小女子多番打探，發現近日喺中國境內失蹤嘅台灣人個案，竟然唔只一宗，事件極唔尋常。

... Calling for volunteers (many came forward after the rallies before) and would like to run an event this weekend!! It's 8.31 and many other cities will have event. Many of our core team members are out of town and I (Anna) am not feeling well!! It can be as simple as another mobile Lennon Wall, or People Chain with Flash Mob. PM us and we have other volunteers that will assist....!!

中國領事館對面碼頭 Pier 81 空地靜坐集會 (West Side Highway 和 42街交界)，將會有一連串演講及聲援活動
... 👉🏻事前準備：
1) 穿著黑色衣服
2) 請自攜撐香港標語紙板及Memo紙
3) 可自行配備口罩及太陽眼鏡
4) 請自攜飲用水
5) 如有需要，請自攜靜坐用座墊
集會主旨：香港兩個多月來大大小小的抗爭運動，讓世人見識到特區政府的中國式鐵腕統治，官警黑勾結昭然若揭。在極度不公平的法治制度下，無數示威者及記者被警方虐打並強行以暴動罪起訴。
我們誓要將香港奮戰的實況告訴紐約市民，讓大眾支持香港的反送中示威，並督促美國政府盡快通過香港人權及民主法案，打擊所有壓逼香港人保衛自由的中港官員。

New York Solidarity Assembly for Hong Kong
August 10 (Saturday), 3 PM
Pier 81, across the street from Chinese consulate (West Side Highway and 42nd street)，there will be a sit-in assembly featuring a series of speeches and solidarity actions.
👉🏻How to Prepare:
1. Wear black
2. Please bring your own signs and post it notes
3. You may bring your own masks and wear sunglasses
4. Please bring your own water
5. If needed, please bring your own mat for sit-in protest
Purpose: Hong Kong’s anti-extradition protests of the past two months have revealed the face of Chinese authoritarianism and government-triad collusion to the world. Under the iron fist of this grossly unjust system, countless protesters and journalists were beaten by the police and arbitrarily charged with rioting.
We must support Hong Kong’s ongoing struggle by raising awareness among New Yorkers and lobbying Congress to pass the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act as soon as possible to punish all officials responsible for suppressing the freedoms of Hongkongers.
'' Memories of yesterday’s standoff in Yeung Uk Road, Tsuen Wan are still vivid and fresh.
Protesters did not leave as tear gas canisters rained down. Instead, many vowed to protect those behind them. About 300 mighty one half squatted and expected to take on more canisters to come, so about a thousand other behind them could leave.
They put out or neutralized tear gas with umbrellas, tennis rackets, water bottles, small metal dishes and traffic cones, separated in small grou...ps tending various zones. If anyone got injured, they were moved to the back for treatments, and swiftly replaced by others from behind.
昨日荃灣楊屋道對峙一役，情景記憶猶新。
當一枚又一枚催淚彈，跌落商場與街市旁的一段楊屋道時，示威者沒有離開，每一位也說要保護後方的人，到最後就是楊屋道六線，有近三百男女以半蹲的方式等待，準備撲滅到來的催淚彈，讓後方逾千人先離開。
他們持雨傘、球拍、水樽、蒸魚碟、雪糕筒。他們數人並行，肩並肩，每人負責一個範圍，受傷了隨即有人移送到後方治療，並有其他人補上位置。''
