State of the Cali Move: a New Yorker's Dos and Don'ts of living in Los Angeles, or why I almost threw in the towel and quit the West Coast -
http://talesofendearment.com/state-of-the-move-dos-donts/

State of the Move: Dos & Don’ts It’s been almost a year since I moved to Los Angeles. My decision to relocate was primarily motivated by a dwindling faith in New York’s bright and shining sparkle and a desire to live a little “less”. I was only seeing the dirt, and hearing the noise. I needed a chan...

How do you go from being a rising soccer star in Europe to being one of the most promising young portrait photographers? Ask 24-year old Long Beach boy Kovi Konowiecki. He was nominated for the Taylor Wessing Prize in London and watched his work exhibited in the tube stations. That's something to give thanks for, I'm sure.

The Talented Mr. Kovi He wanted to be a professional soccer player in Spain, and for a moment there, in his teens, when he played in Belgium and Germany, that dream seemed to become a reality. But things didn’t pan out that way for Kovi Konowiecki. Instead of dribbling across muddy fields in soggy s...

A couple of months ago I styled my boo Erin Wasson for the cover story of Santa Barbara Magazine. It's hard to tell where we are... Morocco? India? Or the hottest new real estate mecca in California? Erin recently bought a house in Ojai. It's a beautiful, bohemian enclave on route to Santa Barbara, and THE place to be.

I went vintage shopping in Marseille with a girl who lives the life of a nomadic bee. She builds hives, brings people together to make music, and travels the world as an artist. Her mission? "To give back and promote sustainable and innovative movements." Meet Melissa Hagerty, and the many many colors of Marseille.

Wear The Change My train to Paris leaves in forty five minutes. “I think we can do one more look each!!!” I yell to Melissa who’s knee deep in vintage jackets in the basement. “Okay!!” she panics when I sprint down the steps to assess the situation. To be honest, I’m not sure if either of us is phys...

There's one person in particular I should thank for my Bermuda adventure. She's a true local with impeccable taste and the noble mission to introduce her childhood paradise to the rest of the world. Meet lawyer-turned-designer, Catherine Quin and her minimalist wardrobe, today on http://talesofendearment.com x

Travel The Truth about the Bermuda Triangle No mystery here: the Bermuda Triangle doesn’t exist. It’s all legend, without so much as a smidgen of historic or accurate evidence. Most documents related to the reported disappearances are made up or heavily embellished for dramatic flare. Rest assured,…...

I'm surprised Bermuda was never on my travel list. It's such an amazing island! For one: all the houses are painted a pastel color - the dream! - and there's so many beaches you can spend days exploring, climbing and swimming. The world is too big to visit the same place twice, but Bermuda changed my mind. I'm going back!

There's another side to Las Vegas, one that's far more authentic and artistic. It's the Strip's cynical uncle, the forlorn home base of the settlers, the neon archive killed by swanky gondolas and the Eiffel Tower. Downtown is OUR kind of Vegas. A photo reportage.

It was a 108 degrees in downtown Las Vegas. There were no shady palm trees to hide under, no forged oases to offer refuge, no fountains or waterfalls to suggest salvation. This was just concrete, a...

I'm far too OCD to be a hippie or a surfer. That's one part of my New York heritage I won't be able to shake so easily. Maybe over time, if I keep riding in old school buses with vikings and learn how to play the guitar, I can assimilate this beautiful life style. For now, I will just wear crochet.

Did the journey start with the dress, or with the bus? Whatever the motivation, cream-colored crochet seemed like the only appropriate theme for last weekend's SoCal expedition. We drove South to S...

A last name like Glascock may be detrimental to some. But not to Shelly. It's become her business, and a crucial ingredient of her Southern, fire-cracker personality. She throws the best parties in Venice, has legs to bounce a penny off, and laughs like a barrel of Tennessee Jack Daniels. And she's my new partner in vintage crime. Meet The Pistol Club.

Shelly's parties are notorious in Venice. The overwhelming consensus usually supports an exasperating infatuation with the indulgent amount of male eye candy, the magnificent human spill into the p...

Remember Wendy Henry in Santa Fe? The lady I photographed last year that makes cowboy boots and made some of you cry? She's got something new up her Southern sleeve: vintage Louis Vuitton bags customized with leather fringe and boots made out of vintage Louis Vuitton duffel bags! This might be your greatest Coachella purchase yet!!

The idea must have sparked a few months ago in Texas. She sent me a picture of a vintage Louis Vuitton fringe saddle bag from the Round Top Antiques Fair and said: "Thinking of you". It's always ni...
