I would like to apologize to the people of Boston & Massachusetts for the poor timing of my tweet earlier this morning. As a staunch and unwavering supporter of the individual right to self defense, I expressed my point of view without thinking of its effect on those still in time of crisis. In hindsight, given the ongoing tragedy that is still unfolding, I regret the poor choice of timing. Please know that my thoughts and prayers were with the people of Boston overnight and will continue as they recover from this tragedy.

As I'm beginning the transition out of elected office I'd appreciate input on the future of this page. I'm considering several possiblities and would appreciate your input.
Should I:
1. Shut this page down
2. Change it to a political commentary blog focused on Arkansas politics.
3. Change it to a general political blog that includes both state and national politics....
4. Your idea?
Comments here are open to everyone without the usual restriction to HD20 residents.
Need some great laying hens?
Help 4-H and get yourself the best quality fresh eggs.
POULTRY CHAIN AUCTION: Tomorrow immediately following the Livestock Auction which begins at 10AM. Support Montgomery County 4-H by purchasing these laying hens!
What HD20 non-profit organization or government entity would you recommend for a grant?
Why?
Fire insurance rates are largely determined by historic loss data. Here is the most recent data for counties in HD 20.
Polk County has 9480 personal fire insurance policies that paid $7,071,475 in premium. Losses were $2,590,754 for a loss ratio of 36.64%.
Montgomery County had 4729 policies that paid $3,160,397 in premium with losses of $458,084 for a loss ratio of 14.49%
Sevier County had 10499 policies, $7,533,217 in premium and 1,377,135 for a loss ratio of 18.28%
High lo...ss ratios result in high insurance costs for everyone in the community and are a HUGE barrier to economic development.
Support your local fire department and if you're able bodied VOLUNTEER!
Representative Nate Bell shared Forward Arkansas's post.
I'm proud of the work so many people have done on this important issue.
By the end of this fiscal year, EVERY Arkansas public school student will have access to broadband Internet.
Arkansas will be one of just THREE states to have achieved this high level of connectivity. We accomplished this important objective with private sector solutions instead of expanding government and we simultaneously REDUCED overall Internet connectivity costs.
Arkansas is now leading the nation ...in several important areas and setting a very high bar.
You may recall that one of my 2014 opponents was extremely critical of my opposition to spending $100 million dollars expanding the state run AREON network and including public schools in the expanded bureaucracy. Elections have consequences and Arkansas voters have made some great choices recently.
Those choices are paying off!
Soon, “Arkansas will be one of three states where every student has access to broadband.” Read more from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette / ArkansasOnline.com about our state’s progress in improving broadband speeds and how it’s changing the way our children learn: http://bit.ly/2aYA9VT

May his sacrifice never be forgotten.
I am deeply saddened by the news that Sebastian County Sheriffs Deputy Bill Cooper has passed away after being shot in the line of duty this morning. Today’s sh...ooting incident, which also resulted in injuries to Hackett Chief of Police Darrell Spells, tragically illustrates the dangers our law enforcement officers face each and every day to keep us safe.
On behalf of all Arkansans, I want to extend our heartfelt condolences to Deputy Cooper’s loved ones and our entire law enforcement community. We stand with you during this difficult time.

Arkansas now leads the nation in yet another important career education arena.
Proactive leadership is moving our state from worst to first and it's happening quickly.
Great job Governor!
I take great pride in sharing about Arkansas wherever I go. A few weeks ago, I shared about how Arkansas is leading the nation in computer science education at the National Governor’s Association 2016 summer conference. In case you missed it, you can watch it here.

3 years ago today I shared this.
Today, Governor Hutchinson is proving by his actions that he was the correct choice to lead our state.
We're now LEADING the nation in multiple positive rankings.
I wholeheartedly support Asa Hutchinson as our next Governor. He’s a man who exemplifies integrity in both his personal and professional life. Asa has the expe...rience to work effectively with legislators to make our state an even better place to live, work and raise a family. I support Asa because his life of action proves that he is the pro-family, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-life, pro-jobs and pro-Arkansas choice in 2014.
See MoreThere aren't many places in America with the diversity of outdoor sports opportunities that we have in District 20.
We have several epic mountain bike trails, amazing whitewater, incredible hiking, gorgeous scenery, hundreds of miles of ATV trails, massive lakes and outstanding hunting for game ranging from waterfowl to black bear.
Y'all come!

The first order of business for members after the election is seat selection. The seat a member chooses is where they will remain for the duration of the term w...hile in the Chamber. The House honors the seat chosen by Rep. Sheilla Lampkin on the back row to the east of the House doors. Rep. Lampkin passed away over the weekend. Members and staff will miss her presence in this chamber.
See MoreMy thoughts and prayers are with the family of my House colleague Rep. Sheilla Lampkin.
She was a friend, always a lady and she served our state and her constituents well.
Rest in peace my friend. Cancer sucks!
I'm glad to see the Ethics Commission make the correct ruling on this.
Ethics Commission dismisses complaint against Gov. Hutchinson http://talkbusiness.net/…/ethics-commission-dismisses-comp…/
My thoughts and prayers are with my friend Rep. Sheila Lampkin who announced yesterday that she is leaving her re-election race due to cancer.
In yesterday's Education Committee adequacy meeting, I made a motion that the committee formally request guidance from the Attorney General on 2 items related to transportation funding and possible solutions to make the funding more reflective of actual costs.
The committee approved the motion without objection and requested an expedited response from the AG.
We must submit our completed adequacy recommendations before November 1st.
