National Market in its current iteration is a tiny remnant of a (truly) international community in t...he heart of Azabu--amongst the nearby Deutschland Botschaft, Hiroo Station, Sacred Heart School and so forth...the staff was* truly international, from the decor inside, the massive American-style aisles and food. It's all gone.
Now it's a serviceable, globalized shop to service a tiny need that Amazon or other direct services can't provide on-demand. Thankfully, at least the overpriced array of collectible 'eco' bags now can provide nostalgia, ironically.
Soon enough, Meidi-ya has also seen better days nearby and they can come take apart the entire nrighborhood's quaint fabric. The local residents now feel out of their element as those generations pass and gradually move away.
There's some corny shops on the second and third floor...the Japanese who took over the place made sure to strip as much character out of it as possible. But, hey, it's the only game in the neighborhood if you run out of Chicken Noodle soup. See More

I can understand Japanese people who have so little variety and international exposure in their live...s not knowing any better and giving this monumental middle finger to the international community a 5-star rating, but the non-Japanese 5 stars? Really? Do you enjoy paying 500 - 700円 for canned beans, and up to 1400円 for two small servings of decent premade soup? 600 something for regular containers of plain hummus? Have you ever noticed how damn artificially expensive even rice is in this country, the main dietary staple, in a sad and flimsy effort on the government's part to keep domestic agriculture barely breathing? Just don't. Any crappy little supermarket in a crappy neighbourhood anywhere in the developed West is better than this garbage. See More

Tomorrow June 30th (Sunday) from 10:00 we are having our Coca Cola Drinking Challenge. Competition is who can drink the 190 ml bottle the fastest. Entry is free and the winner will receive a ￥10,000 National Azabu gift certificate. In addition we will have Bulldog BBQ, Bella cupcakes, etc. so come on by.
Just trying out the timer tonight and one of our employees in the seafood department gave it a try before he went home.

Thanksgiving which is Thursday, November 22nd we have decoration available at National Azabu on the 2nd floor.
Kimura Sake Brewery (located in Yuzawa City Akita prefecture) which is affiliated with National Azabu Supermarkets parent company has been awarded best prize among the two categories of Ginjo sake and Junmai rice.
This is the first time since the establishment of the award in 2013, that a sake from Akita Prefecture has been awarded the first prize as Tohoku Champion.
National Azabu/National Den-en does have a limited inventory of the sake available.
