Good to see another fresh through the Maitai just prior to Easter. It's been opportune the way the rain has come this year, keeping the river clean and clear flowing for us all to swim over summer...and that includes the dogs and the koura!

Having Booker long-lister Anna Smaill on our Page & Blackmore Readers and Writers' programme is the cherry on the cake. Programme launched last night, tickets now on sale. $90 for a concession to all author sessions with the likes of Charlotte Grimshaw, Gavin Bishop, Patricia Grace, Michele A'Court & Geoff Murphy. Great to see the Marlborough Book Festival notching up from last year with ten great sessions at some of Marlborough's loveliest wineries.

The 2018 Marlborough Book Festival is on July 6-8. Save the date for a celebration of words, wine, food and some of NZ's best-loved authors. #MBF18

Good outcome - we do the media work for the Brook - and those are my grandchildren, on the left.

The forecast for rain didn't stop a big crowd from turning up to see the country's rarest kiwi and interact with the Bug Man at the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary open day.

Recent media stats make interesting reading. The year's newspaper stats show an industry in freefall (Waikato Times down 17%) - while a Herald story on Radio NZ's drop off in listeners also shows 25% of people aged over 15 don't listen to any radio and half of young males aged 15-24 years don't listen to the radio at all. Peter Sinclair will be rotating - in his grave. Shows us you've got to be canny in getting your message out there, and you know where to go for help with that!

Grahame Sydney Paintings 1974 - 2014. This stunning book will be fresh off the press from Craig Potton Publishing just in time for Page & Blackmore Readers and Writers. Grahame will be in conversation with publisher Robbie Burton. This is our top seller after Elenor Catton. So make sure you get your tickets before the earlybird price ends on Sunday.
