If you order cold food this is the place to be. The salad was good. However they have a problem serving hot food. I will give a place the benefit of the doubt once but by strike three I just want hot so I can go on my way. There are not many food options so you are kind of stuck going here for the most relaxed environment. Last year I went the food was amazing and the service 5 star. Currently they have some work to do. I see they are trying just be aware to check your food. See More

I have been coming to Terranea for years and my two young boys love the summer programs and exploring the trails around the resort. We look forward to enjoying a meal at Nelson’s and have had some won...derful experiences. However, I have noticed a distinctive downward trend that has culminated in one of the worst dining experience I had ever had.

I understand that as a resort restaurant, there can often be a wait. But, when you give your guests a time estimate don’t waffle. Don’t tell me 45 minutes and then as we turn to leave, encourage us to stay by saying it is really only 30 minutes. You see my two small boys with me, right? You DO understand that once that 30 minute mark goes sailing by that the clock is really ticking! We patiently waited in the bar and wandered outside and after 45 minutes, we were finally seated in the bar... seriously? The very place we were waiting for a TABLE?! Worse, it’s the bar next to the kitchen with tall stools. When I mention how inappropriate this seating arrangement is, I get a snotty retort. I’m at your mercy though; we’ve waited too long and I need to feed my family!

The food was okay. It might have even been great but after my youngest fell off the stool, hitting his head and not a single member of your harried staff stopped to pretend to care, I lost my appetite. I just paid that stupid $77 dinner bill and left.

Don’t worry. I’ll be back. But, I’ll just sit in the bar with a drink and save myself the aggravation and expense.

In town to celebrate my birthday weekend and looked at where to go for dinner.. Decided on Nelson's.. Was concerned because I only brought casual clothes and Nelson's is very casual... Had to wait an ...hour but it was fun hanging out there.. We sat outside and Joe was our server. It was dinner and a comedy show. He was wonderful and funny.. Food was good See More

I can't think of a better place for a date. The salmon salad and french fries were delicious, service good, and view... well this place is a gift to the South Bay for sure. My new favorite spot.

I like the view and ambience but way over priced for the quality of food! Not a good value. $20 for a really small kale salad with very little ingredients and dry. $19 for a basic martini! Give me a ...break! Won't be eating in the dining area again but outside benches for the summer music concerts, that's still worth going for. See More

Nelson’s is always great! You can’t beat the location or the view and it’s a great place to have a glass of wine by the fire pit and watch the sunset.

Loved the atmosphere, service, view, food, and live music. But even at 5pm there was no happy hour menu. I would go more often if they did have one, as their regular menu pricing is quite high. It... is lovely and I had a great time, I just wish I could do it more. Two glasses of wine each and two shared apps was more than I spend on groceries in a week! Loved seeing the families with small kids enjoying the live music and dancing. This is a fabulous local spot! Be sure to take the time to enjoy the grounds, especially down by the cliff. Beautiful walking paths to enjoy. See More

View is fantastic, service great but food was mediocre at best. The only thing we ordered that was very good was the deep fried portabello mushrooms and key limr pie. I don't mind paying the price if ...the food was good but I left with a bad taste in my mouth.. I doubt eat there again. Thank you, Tom. See More

5 star views, jack in the box service. Incompetent, slow, RUDE, and arrogant. The host with 10lbs of make up should find another job and the bartender that looks like he just got out of jail should ...go look for the smile he lost in prison. Been there dozens of time but never going back again due to there horrific customer service today See More

Well we were back yesterday and loved the entire day. The service was right on perfect and the food was delicious. We started with the chilled shrimp and avocado dip which were fresh and scrumptious! ...The Crab Wedge, Quinoa Bowl and Fish n Chips were very satisfying. Trust me you will not want to share the delicious Berry Cobbler! All in all a beautiful lunch with a million dollar view. Nelsons is a place to jot down on your weekend to do list for good eats and good vibes. Thank you Michael (Food and Beverage Manager) and Kayla (Server) you both are doing the right thing at Nelsons!! See More

This place was awesome. Great food and the service was spectacular. Brandon was our Waiter and Michael the manager was so friendly I felt like we were with old friends. That's to say nothing of the... amazing view. We'll be back for sure. See More

Ambiance is lovely. Clam chowder is excellent. Service lacks service. Had to call our server over so that we could order lunch! Then lunch arrived 25 minutes later.

The pretzel is to die for. The barramundi was excellent and the parfait couldn't have been any better. Nelson's has a great casual atmosphere that is both romantic and enchanting. I loved hanging out ...with my friends and just sitting by the ocean See More

Great location, great atmosphere, great service, poor food, over priced drinks, $10 for a bottle of beer, $23 for a Manhattan rocks and the automatic 18% tip slipped onto the bill was a bit off putting.

Staff and location can't be beat. They need to overhaul the menu. Bring back the seared ahi sandwich. I had the lobster roll, not cheap, seamed like it was made with imitation crab. Where was the lobs...ter on this tiny roll? See More
