Important Never Again Action Update: This December we’re coming for ICE with everything we’ve got. We're going bigger & bolder than we did this summer, because that's what it's going to take to *actually* #ShutDownICE and *actually* #CloseTheCamps. We are going to throw our bodies into their gears in memory of every ancestor missing from our family trees because bystanders failed to act. This summer, a small group of Jews channelled our fury at ICE into an action at a detention center in NJ. We accidentally set off the largest-ever wave of direct action by Jews and allies against ICE. The only thing missing was a blueprint for what came next - and that’s about to change. What's next? A huge wave of actions in December, kicked off with mass coordinated mobilizations in strategic cities, followed by distributed local actions happening across the country. We're taking the fight to ICE & their enablers... And we won’t be acting alone! We continue to be in deep partnership with Movimiento Cosecha as we build our movement of Jews and allies to take relentless direct action against the deportation and detention machine, and in support of their movement of undocumented leaders. At the local level we have been blessed to work with local Cosecha circles and amazing immigrant rights organizations like AMOR RI - Alianza para Movilizar Nuestra Resistencia in Rhode Island, Juntos in Philadelphia, Grassroots Leadership in Austin, Voces de la Frontera in Milwaukee, and so many more. We’ve already shut down dozens of ICE offices and detention centers, and we’re just getting started. In this post we're launching our December wave of action against ICE, announcing two simultaneous December 10th actions, and releasing a toolkit with blueprints for thousands of us to organize actions all across the country.🔔 ICE is everywhere -- not just at the border. ICE is in our cities and towns, collaborating with local police and prisons. Corporations like Amazon and Palantir make millions off the targeting of our immigrant neighbors. ICE has slithered its way into so many parts of our society. ICE is everywhere. That makes them dangerous. It also makes them vulnerable. Immigrants are being demonized, rounded up, and abused on a mass scale. We are going after ICE because we've seen this before, and we won't let it happen again, doing what they wish everyday people in Europe had done for our Jewish ancestors before it was too late: taking direct, relentless, and immediate action to stop ICE and its enablers. BlackRock, Inc. is the 2nd largest shareholder of both GEO Group and CoreCivic, the biggest operators of for-profit ICE detention centers. BlackRock is also one of the bondholders invested in the Wyatt ICE Detention Center, suing to keep it open. Never Again Action is acting as part of the Shut Down DC coalition, which includes Extinction Rebellion, Sunrise Movement, and others who are highlighting the intersection between climate justice and migrant justice. BlackRock is also one of the largest investors in coal and other drivers of climate change. The United Nations estimates that climate change will cause 150-300 million people to become refugees by 2050.
