- The bible says you must be born again in order to go to heaven and i...t is not by works of righteousness which we have done, and also he chooses us we don't choose Him and we can't come to him except he draws us. Also everybody won't be saved for many are called but few are chosen. God got a remnant a select group of people that he predestined. So we can't live right on our own or by good merits only by the Holy Ghost on the inside through being born again regenerated, saved something more powerful than us living on the inside to help us. Not just to follow his teaching his teaching or commands this is by spirit not flesh because what the law could not do in that it was weak through flesh God sending his Son in the likeness of flesh condemned sin in the flesh. So you can faith in him and not yourself because we can't do it flesh is weak and a God is not leaving it up to us to live right that is why he took the sin and punishment and nailed it to the cross and come back from the dead so we can have new life. Not by works of righteousness which we have done but by His grace. He said you didn't choose me I chose you to go bring forth fruit, so even when we mess up we can run to him and obtain mercy for our sins because he is faithful and just to cleanse us from our sins and forgives us for all unrighteousness because of Jesus paying the price, penalty for us.
