Troopers Seize 74 Kilograms Heroin and Cocaine worth $5.4 Million

You read that correctly. Yesterday, a commercial vehicle safety inspection on eastbound Interstate 78 at milepost 6.2 in Greenwich Township, Warren County led to the seizure of 74 kilograms of powder heroin and cocaine.

At 4:24 p.m., Tpr. I James Agens of the New Jersey State Police Mobile Safe Freight Unit stopped a tractor-trailer driven by Henry Cruz-Ventura, 39, of Los Angles, C.A., to conduct a commercial ...motor vehicle safety inspection. During the inspection, Tpr. Agens discovered boxes comingled throughout the load that were not consistent with the legitimate cargo, in addition to several other indicators consistent with criminal activity.

As a result of the investigation, Tpr. Agens and assisting troopers searched the truck and seized 64 kilograms of heroin and 10 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated value of $5.47 million.

Henry Cruz-Ventura was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute. He was lodged at the Warren County Jail in lieu of $250,000 full cash bail.

This is yet another great job by Tpr. I James Agens and the NJSP Mobile Safe Freight Unit, who some affectionately call our "truck troops." Great job getting this poison off of the streets!

Troops Get Down in the Mud with Grace and Her Girls

So, you may be wondering why troops are in the mud, who is Grace, and who are her girls. Well, pictured here are scenes from a visit by Sgt. Stacey Lloyd and Tpr. II Alina Spies, of the New Jersey State Police Recruiting Unit, to the Grace in the Mud, Inc. (Grace) annual summer program for girls. And while they never got in the mud, they did get a little dirty with some finger painting!

Grace's programs are designed to help ...young girls' develop civic responsibility, create community relationships, and provide an opportunity to connect with a diverse pool of positive mentors. And guess what? These two troops are outstanding mentors! You can tell by all of those bright, beautiful smiles on those kids. But that's not how it started...

When Sgt. Llyod and Tpr. Spies first arrived, the girls were quiet, shy, and perhaps a little intimidated. But it wasn't long before the troops broke the ice. No, wait, they shattered the ice, and had an absolutely amazing day with the girls! They talked about their personal life, what it's like to be a trooper, and reminded those young ladies that they can achieve any dream they want if they set their minds to it!

This wasn't a recruiting mission. Sgt. Llyod and Tpr. Spies spent the day with these young ladies as a way of giving back to the communities we serve, and we couldn't be prouder!

Job well done! New Jersey State Police Recruiting Unit

So, what's going on here? Why are these troops making sandwiches?

Well, some troops decided to lend a hand at the Annual Hunger Doesn't Take a Vacation Sandwich Drive in the City of Elizabeth in Union County.

Now although it may be true that the troops are better at eating sandwiches rather than making them, we understand that they learned quickly!

...

Giving back to our communities is an important part of our job! Great job troops!

It doesn't get any more Jersey than this! Yeah, that's the man, the myth, the legend, the one and only Bruce Springsteen, The Boss, right next to a Jersey Trooper!

It looks like he was fixing to shake that troop's hand, but that troop sure looks locked out. Wonder how that ended...

It was an important day for a one little girl, and a day that these Troopers from the New Jersey State Police Recruiting Unit and the School Safety and Outreach Unit will never forget.

This group of troops coincidentally met this little girl at this church in Bay Head Borough, Ocean County on the anniversary of her father's death.

These troops were able bring a little happiness to her on such a somber day. We'd like to think that maybe dad had a hand in this to let her know... he's watching over her.

Stay strong young lady! We will always have your back!

But out of the three, it is hope that will help us to heal. And there is much hope and promise for this beautiful child.

Every once in a while, the cosmic forces of the universe align in your favor.

Last Thursday, the mystical forces of the cosmos aligned when two of our recruiters stepped outside and met a group of Civil Air Patrol Cadets interested in the NJSP.

That's like members of the NJSP Fugitive Unit walking outside to find a bunch of felons, previously on the lam, ready to turn themselves in!

We'd say it was a good recruiting day when all we had to do was walk out of our offices. Lucky for us, on base was a group of Civil Air Patrol Cadets excited to learn about the NJSP.

It's not always about rescuing kittens or pulling people from fiery car wrecks, albeit those things make great headlines. Sometimes it's the little things that that make secret sauce so delicious.

This pic is from the recent PGA Championship at Baltusrol. This is the moment the ole Sarge was able to return this woman's lost cell phone.

Now, say what you will about the potential overuse or our ever growing necessity of those little pocket wonders. The bottom line is that ma...ny of us have personal banking information, credit card information, family photos and much more that we wouldn't want falling into the wrong hands.

These seemingly small services are the very things that we take so much pride in doing. This woman's smile of appreciation is yet another reminder of why we chose to be New Jersey State Troopers.

Truck Troops Seize 36 Kilos of Heroin

Troopers from our Mobile Safe Freight Training Unit are at it again! Last week, they located 54lbs of Marijuana in a commercial vehicle.

Now, one would think that they would pause to reflect on a job well done. But not these troops. Instead, this week they stepped up their game and seized 36 kilograms of Heroin. Here's the deal:

...

This past Sunday, August 14th, our Mobile Safe Freight Training Unit took part in a State-wide Domestic Highway Enforcement detail. While participating in the program, troopers stopped a tractor trailer for a safety inspection on I-78 eastbound at milepost 6.4 in Greenwich Twp, N.J. During the inspection, troopers located 36 kilograms of Heroin hidden within the trailer.

Oscar Franco, 58, of Chula Vista, CA was arrested for being in possession of $2.88 Million worth of Heroin. Franco was charged with possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin with intent to distribute. He was lodged at Warren County Jail in default of bail.

Heroin is poison, plain and simple. These troops just prevented $2.8 million in poison form hitting our streets! That's a lot of poison.

Outstanding job troops! #Attaboy

Shenanigans at the Salem County Fair

So, there were some seriously questionable shenanigans at the Salem County Fair the other night.

As the story goes, some of the troops decided to have some fun with the community by volunteering to sit at the dunk tank and take pies in the face at other attractions.

...

Now, we're not going to lie. Some people seemed to really, really, really enjoy dunking and pie throwing a bit too much, like really too much!

The troops took a shellacking, but it was all for a good cause. Much of the night's proceeds were donated to the Future Farmers of America (FFA). And in our opinion, American farmers and future farmers are one of our most valuable resources!

It was a great night for all involved, and from what we were told, many of you kept our recruiters busy, who were there looking for some future troopers!

Trooper seizes 54lbs of Marijuana valued at $324,000.

It’s the dog days of summer and most people are beating the heat by staying inside and keeping cool. But despite these tough conditions, our troops are still out there getting the job done. This was especially true for Trooper Brian Dolinsky from our Mobile Safe Freight Training Unit.

On Tuesday, August 8, Trooper Dolinsky stopped a tractor trailer for a commercial vehicle inspection on I-78 eastbound at milepost 6.4 in Gr...eenwich Twp, N.J. During the course of the inspection, Trooper Dolinsky located 54lbs of marijuana hidden in two cardboard boxes.

Trooper Dolinsky arrested Eric Shan, 52, of Baldwin Park, CA for being in possession of $324,000 worth of Marijuana. Shan was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute. He was lodged at Warren County Jail in lieu of $175,000 with no 10% option.

It was because of Trooper Dolinsky’s training and attention to detail that these drugs will never make their way to the street.

Charges are mere accusations and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.

Here's a good news story that should unite both Jets and Giants fans

Pictured in the middle of the group is Dallas Police officer Bryan Shaw. Shaw was shot in the ambush that saw five of his fellow officers lose their lives last month and he is still recovering from recent surgeries.

Bryan was in New Jersey for a bit of rest and relaxation and when we found out he was in the area, members of the State Police Meadowlands Station gave Bryan a tour of Metlife Stadium. Once Mr. W...illiam Squires of Quest Diagnostics found out that Bryan was in town, he stopped what he was doing and gave him a personal tour of the Giants training facility.

A big thanks to the Troops at the Meadowlands Station and William Squires for showing Bryan some Jersey hospitality while he was in town. Bryan put his life on the line protecting the citizens of Dallas and for that we thank him.
