Those fishermen that come from multigenerational fishing families will relate to this video. Thanks Raysha for sharing a glimpse of what growing up around a boat looks like.. #Gman#F/VMicheleAnn

I was born and raised in Waldport-Newport, ore. I pleasantly afforded the pics and videos, missing home terribly. My father was a commercial craber. Small time fisherman yet had the salt in his blood.... As I still do. I'm missing home so bad and these wonderful pics of the fishermen, the boats and the ocean filly heart with happiness. Some sadness yes, that comes with the life style. God bless you ALL.

These ladies are amazing! They help the community in so many ways and are a group our fishermen and fishing families are lucky to have here in Newport. Thank you for all you do!

This is real community. Over the years, I have seen this group pay attention to what is needed and work for it. Recently the epic struggle to secure the helicopter has been vital for Newport. I love it.

Commercial fishing is demanding. Not only on the fishermen at sea but also on the families at home. It is adaptive for the women at home to band together to support themselves and each other. The sum greater than the parts, strengthening the fishing families - everywhere. The Newport Fishermen's Wives rock! See More

This is very interesting. I didn't know much about the fishing and red tape involved. Very educational. Keep up the good work.

Flat ocean, whales breaching, sun setting, this is why we love Alaska.

We're going thru old pics... Anyone remember the big storm in November 1981 that tore all the boats loose from the docks and they piled up on the sea wall??

Maybe a little color will brighten this dreary day. This is part of last Thursday morning shoot on Port Dock 7.

* Warning, frustrated rant below ⚠️
Because this is a TED video, people will automatically take this misinformation as fact. This is frustrating and at the very least is lacking any differentiation of catch methods and species types. For example, our Albacore tuna on the West Coast are NOT net caught but sustainably hook and line caught! Our shrimp nets for Oregon pink shrimp are highly innovative to release by catch and our Chinook Salmon are also hook and line caught an...d highly sustainable. This is a blatant disregard to our West Coast fisherman for all that they have done to create sustainable fisheries. Not to mention our industry is highly regulated, we are only allotted a limited amount of bycatch and have have observers on our boats monitoring every fish that is caught, if boats catch more than their allotted amount they are shut down from fishing.

Was out on the 804 in front of the Fireside and took these shots of our fabulous Yachats sunset. I had a hard time choosing one so I put up all 4. Which one is your favorite.
