Weend'o Premiere "Angel Dust" video

Weend 'o are pleased to present their video which accompanies the radio edit of the sing "Angel Dust". It is from the French band's second album "Time of Awakening" which is available now via the Sonicbond label. This radio edit of the track is available only on the international edition of the album, available via Amazon, Itunes and all download and streaming services.

"The Time of Awakening album is a call to humanity to keep faith and ...hope despite the appalling events currently afflicting the world ." says singer Laetitia "We believe that we are entering a new period in our evolution, and that we are experiencing frequencies that are creating a new paradigm even though the events of 2017 - like devastating earthquakes - have been disastrous for individual communities. All is one - both the visible and invisible worlds. Nothing can stop the true evolution. 'Angel Dust' discusses this subject from a very personal point of view."

Midnight Sun announce line up changes for Tour with Mystery

Midnight Sun are delighted to welcome Ben Swanwick as our new permanent guitarist. Ben made his first appearance with the band at the inaugural Fushion Festival in Stourport and seamlessly fitted into the line up, both musically and personally. Ben is a professional musician, playing and teaching guitar and has also done demos for a guitar pickup company and demonstrated products at the London Guitar Show. He’s a sup...erb guitarist and we’re stoked to have him on board as a member of the band.

His career highlight so far, he says, has been playing at Download Festival, which he says was an awesome experience and one which we’d love to repeat with him someday!

Ben has a deep and abiding love of metal & prog music and favourite bands include Pagan’s Mind and Devin Townsend. Under some duress, he also confessed a liking for Styper but we’re not holding that against him!

We are also delighted to announce that we will be joined for our April gigs with Mystery by bassist Sean Spear.

Sean will be familiar to most prog fans as the bassist in both Grey Lady Down and Darwin’s Radio. A consummate musician, his speed at learning the Midnight Sun set for these dates has been staggering and we’re blown away to have him with us!

The band will play the following gigs with Canadian band Mystery with special guest Damian Wilson.

Sunday April 22nd - The Robin, Bilston
Monday April 23rd - The Musician, Leicester
Tuesday April 24th - Boston Music Rooms, Tufnell Park

Frequency Drift - Letters to Maro

Letters to Maro’s predecessor Last was still strongly imprinted by heavy guitars. On the new record, though, the Bayreuth-based band put the focus on rhythmic sophistication innovation in the field of sound design to deliver even more vital imagery for the imagination of people. In this context, however, the typically catchy vocal arrangements create a remarkable degree of accessibility, which is impressive, particularly when considering that complexity accounts for a considerable degree of Frequency Drift’s artistic output – now even more than in the past.

Just as with all other releases, once again the proven songwriting and production team consisting of Nerissa Schwarz and Andreas Hack helmed the genesis of Letters to Maro. Influenced by the works of authors like Haruki Murakami as well as Japan’s arthouse cinema, Frequency Drift’s mastermind pair also created the album’s overall artistic conception. Once again Schwarz and Hack serve as both author and director of the cinematically musical experience that Letters to Maro offers for its listeners: the music, the lyrics, the artwork and the video material, all those factors contribute to what ultimately becomes an experience of extensive spaces and images.

SONICBOND RELEASE TALITHA RISE
"AN ABANDONED ORCHID HOUSE"
on june 1st

on CD, LP and digitally distributed by Nova via Plastichead

...

Genre: Indie-Folk, Progressive Folk

Sonicbond - the new label begun by Stephen Lambe and Huw Lloyd-Jones - are delighted to announce the release of their next album "An Abandoned Orchid House" the debut full-length album by emerging Sussex-based singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Talitha Rise (Jo Beth Young)

"An Abandoned Orchid House" is an album of ethereal, intimate soundscapes and powerful, emotive imagery. The album journeys through many different interior terrains that all in some way lead, via loss and alienation, to hope.

"Or perhaps it’s just the machinations of a poetically-inclined songwriter alone in her cottage. " She says , warming to the album's themes of isolation and abandonment.

"I think there are as many responses to music as there are people in the world. However, if I could have my way, I would hope people that hear this record would know that they are totally not alone and not isolated in their thoughts, feelings and experiences. Music has saved my life so many times, so If one person gets the feeling that ‘it’s not just me that feels this way’ then that for me is a total success.

"An Abandoned Orchid House" was recorded in many locations, from living rooms and kitchen tables in Devon and Scotland to a beautiful manor house in Sussex.

"I like to think this has given them some real sense of isolation, even when the tracks are very big." she says "I wanted them to feel like a personal and intimate conversation between myself and the listener."

Stephen Lambe of Sonicbond comments:

"The music of Talitha Rise epitomises everything that we are trying to achieve with Sonicbond. Her music is deeply introspective yet supremely melodic, with widescreen, ethereal arrangements that will appeal to fans of both progressive music and folk. We are delighted to give her the platform to reach a wider audience."

Main recording was completed at Bubble Studio in Sussex where Talitha Rise’s vocals, guitars, keys and unusual instrumentations were complimented to perfection by collaborator Martyn Barker (Shriekback, Robert Plant, Marianne Faithful, Billy Bragg) with both his drumming and multi-instrumental skills.

The album also includes many guest appearances including: Juldeh Camara (Robert Plant/Justin Adams/Real World - Gambian Riti), Peter Yates (Fields of the Nephilim - guitars) Arnulf Linder (KT Tunstall, Ed Harcourt - cello) and Rory McFarlane (Katie Melua - bass). Award winning songwriter Kathryn Williams provided most of the lyrics for "Valley" and songwriter Nick Webb (vocals, keys) collaborated on "Bloodfox". The album was co-produced and engineered by Talitha Rise and Martyn Barker and mixed by Kev Bolus (except "The Lake" by Dave Lynch.)

Simon Phillips (Toto, Mike Oldfield, The Who) returns to play drums on the forthcoming Robert Reed album Sanctuary III. The album is released on April 20th on Tigermoth Records. Robert comments:

“It's a great honour to have Simon back playing drums on the new album and it was particularly special to finally meet with Simon at his recent Ronnie Scott’s performance with his band Protocol. As we have now made two albums together via file sharing, it was good to finally say hel...lo in person.

What I love about his playing, is that does what the music requires. We all know how good he is technically, but that doesn’t always mean that everything has to be fast and furious. He has a great touch and feel for the music.

Again, when I listen back to the album I have to pinch myself that its Simon playing on there. He has performed on so many of my favorite albums, from Gordon Giltrap's “ Fear Of the Dark” to Mike Oldfield “Discovery" and "Crises”. He always has such a distinctive sound.

I can’t wait for people to hear Sanctuary 3. I’m really proud of it and everybody that was involved with the making."

PHI - Cycles - Released today!

Markus Bratusa has been hard at work trying to reconcile beauty with transience and mortality for years, which may sound like the closest thing to a suicide mission. But the revamped and more distanced approach of Cycles has provided the songwriter with the clearest, emotionally boldest and – without the trace of a doubt – most honest view on the issue to date. Where a less courageous artist might have resorted to hiding behind monumentally big words of emotionality in their lyrics, the Austrian opens himself up and gifts the listener with unrestricted honesty.

Markus Bratusa (vocals, guitar, synthesizer, sound design), new addition Stefan Helige (guitar), Arthur Darnhofer-Demár (bass, he left the band shortly after recording finished) as well as returnee Nick Koch (drums, percussion, keys, programming, backing vocals) have dared big on their new release and that has not only provided them with tremendous energy but also the courage to use it and ultimately create the great accomplishment that is Cycles.

Robert Reed releases Sanctuary III on April 20th

Pre-order from: www.robreedofficial.co.uk

Multi-instrumentalist and composer Robert Reed (Magenta / Kompendium / Kiama / ChimpanA) announces the release of Sanctuary III on April 20th, the follow up to the acclaimed Sanctuary I and II albums. Robert produced, mixed and engineered the album, and plays most of the instruments himself, with the help of legendary drummer Simon Phillips (Toto/Mike Oldfield), recorder player Les Pen...ning and "Tubular Bells" producers Tom Newman and Simon Heyworth.

A promo video can be found here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdfsrTv-7fs

Robert talks about the continued evolution of his own style during the production of the new album:

“I think Sanctuary III shows that my writing has really moved on from the first two albums. I composed it without any pre conceived musical barriers so nothing was off limits. As a result, it's much more “me”. People will spot a lot of influences, but on Sanctuary III they are taken from a much broader musical spectrum.

The Sanctuary albums have always been about long-form musical compositions that carry you on a emotional journey, using real instruments that are hand-played. As there are no lyrics, it's emotional impact has to be carried by allowing the melodies and instrumentation to sing and to speak. I really wanted the album to be as colourful and dynamic as possible.

I cannot thank Tom Newman enough - he has been a true musical mentor and his influence really can be felt on Sanctuary III. The sonic dynamics are really exciting and when it came to the mixing and mastering of the album, I really fought to keep those dynamics as extreme as possible. In that respect it feels a lot more like a classical recording than what you would normally find in rock music."

The album is available in a 3 disc set. CD1 contains the album as mixed by Robert. CD2 contains a series of wonderful remixes of sections of the album, plus Tom Newman's mixes of the main album. The third disc is a DVD containing Rob's 5.1 mixes of the album, plus a selection of videos giving an insight into how the album was created.

Sanctuary III can be pre-ordered now from www.robreedofficial.co.uk
