88 Broadway - Planning Commission
What a team we had out for our Winter Street Cleanup! Thanks to the nearly 30 neighbors who made it out and spent their Sunday morning making the streets, parks, and sidewalks shine. Special thanks to North Beach Citizens Friends of Joe DiMaggio Playground and San Francisco Public Works for their help.

We are sharing the following from the owner of The Salzburg. Please help or share if you are able to.

"Hello Facebook land - as many of you already know, The Salzburg was destroyed in the 4 alarm North Beach fire on Saturday night. Fortunately everyone made it out of the building safely, a miracle since it was 7 pm on a busy Saturday (st. patricks) night. We want to thank everyone in the neighborhood for being so supportive through this, ...and throughout the Salzburg's brief time serving North Beach. To say this is disappointing wouldn't begin to describe it. Many have asked how they can help, and at this point, there isn't much we can do but wait (we can't even enter the building yet and have no idea when or if it will be safe enough to do so). However, we have 5 awesome server/bartenders and some great back of the house guys who are left jobless. If you own a restaurant or bar in SF, or know anyone who does, and need amazing staff, please contact me. These guys are such pros and knowing they are in this situation has been the cherry on this shit sundae."

We're happy to see the Mayor's Office activate a Small Business Relief Fund for those impacted by the fires over the weekend.

This is the city at its best, taking care of one another.

City funds will help affected merchants replace inventory, pay employees and cover other costs.

Thank you to the brave men and women of San Francisco Fire Department and San Francisco Firefighters Local 798 for their swift action to stop last night's fire in our neighborhood.

They rushed into danger and acted immediately, ensuring that no civilians were injured and that the fire did not spread.

Thank you for protecting North Beach.

Good news: Francisco Park is one step closer to reality!

This is a testament to the tireless work of neighborhood advocates that have seen the potential of an abandoned space to be transformed into a vibrant gathering place.

We're proud to have supported the efforts to build Francisco Park for nearly a decade now.

We hope you can take a moment to read about Hideaki's story.

We were lucky enough to meet Hideaki last week when he joined us for our Street Cleanup, and our entire group was captivated by his warmth and friendliness.

A wonderful reminder of the important work that North Beach Citizens does in our neighborhood.
