Clint Bowyer will pilot the No 15 5-Hour Energy Team Chevy in this years Southern 500 in honor of 2017 NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductee and Wilkes County native son 1973 NASCAR Champion Benny Parsons at Darlington Raceway #NASCAR
Tuesday Topic Time: You have money for a repave or to lay dirt. Which do you pick and why? (Remember two dirt tracks already in the area along with the Dirt Track in Charlotte along with many series and multi-purpose events cannot be held at dirt track facilities potentiality losing out on revenue).
I missed the Tuesday Topic this week so I'm saving it for next week but random Thursday Thought... Las Vegas and Gateway turn their tracks into EDM(Electronic Dance Music) festivals. Vegas for example has up to hundreds of thousands at $425/ticket show up over 3 days and a production budget in the millions. Good idea or not?
Tuesday Topic: We asked what series you wanted to see. Provided a two day weekend with late models, K&N, and Trucks. How far would you drive and what would you pay to see a show like that? Note: Nothing is scheduled this is merely an opinion topic only.
Today The Wilkes County Wildman himself Junior Johnson turns 85. He won four times as a driver at his hometown track starting twice in 1958 and wouldn't win again until twice in 1965 and for his 50th and final NASCAR career victory on October 3, 1965. As an owner he would win 18 more times making him the king of North Wilkesboro Speedway. #NASCAR
Article touches on some good starting points. However North Wilkesboro would be a perfect track for trucks based on attendance seen at events over the last few years. Also Southern Mods, Whelen Late Model Series on a limited basis like BGS, and other special racing events.
Also track would need to turn to a multi-purpose facility and not focused primarily on racing 100% of the time in order to survive in these economic times. #NASCAR

Tuesday Topic: With Wilkes County, North Carolina natives Junior Johnson and Benny Parsons in the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Is it time NASCAR recognize Enoch Staley for building North Wilkesboro Speedway as well as helping Bill France Sr. as a founding member of #NASCAR along with building Occoneechee Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, and helping run races on the beaches of Daytona Beach Course and Daytona International Speedway
For those who paid the ultimate sacrifice on this Memorial Day #Respect
"I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the so...lemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom."
Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

- I am new to Wilkes county, but a lifelong NASCAR fan. NWS has always... been one of my favorite tracks. Do you all know how to see it up close? I would love to take a few pictures of my daughter walking on the track while it is overgrown--before someone restores it and racing returns.
- I wish some one would open it back up , and have the trucks race there.
- 5starNASCAR, nowadays, is a disgrace. Since, the death of Dale Earnhardt,
Brian France has done any and everything to turn hi...s back on who made this sport popular. Now, he's reaping the backlash.T his is "Nascar Country"! Return it to its roots!!!
- 5starI as a child used to listen to races on the radio from North Wilksboro speedway, and Rockingham
. Thats where the heart o...f stock car racing started and still is ! I know the history stock car racing, from the shine runners .... it seems all the France family gives a shit about is money, and the other " superspeed way owners" money, money money. I think tridition is important. How is the fight going to purchase, and reopen the true home of stock car racing?
