I stopped in here today and spoke with Robert, the owner. Insanely nice, sweet and beautiful person. I didn't have time to stay, but talked to Robert for long e...nough to get a sense just how relaxing this place would be to stay for awhile. I'll definitely be back. Places like this, owned by kind and good people, make the world good. عرض المزيد

Amazing place!!! Actually like a heaven on earth for me, it really does feel like an oasis in this crazy world. The owner, Robert, is wonderful, obviously knows... what he's talking about and has some awesome memoirs and other books published by himself around the store. The interior is seriously beautiful and totally serene, there are several comfortable seating areas, two couches and a raised platform with a carpet and tons of pillows for sitting and relaxing. I'm so glad I found this place! عرض المزيد

By far the coolest coffee shop I've ever been to. Robert, the owner / operator, attracts loving happy people & initiates wonderful conversations! As an example,... Robert may be the one of the world's foremost experts on the inspiring lyrics of Bob Marley. A single enjoyable listening of a single song with Robert has turned me into a nearly daily fan for over a year now. What a great place! عرض المزيد

An amazing atmosphere, a place where minds can come together in a single moment or thought that is full of peace and wonderful coffee. A special and simply spectacular evening. Wish we lived closer and could share more often.

I came here on Sunday February 8th 2015 with a colleague of mine. I had heard about the place by googling, I also had saw something on groupon. My colleague and... I like to try new local eateries on the weekends. We came when the cafe was when it just opening up just before 2pm. I loved the ambiance at first site, the vibrant colors and decorations were amazing. I took at photo of the little nook with pillows, I think I might create such a place in my home. Anywho, I ordered a Spinach feta quiche, apple caramel crepe(after being told the other crepe was unavailable) and white blueberry tea.

My colleague and I were chatting and enjoying the relaxing vibe and all was well...Until I got to my apple crepe. I ate about two bites from the crepe when I noticed something off. I looked closer and realized it was a long blonde strand of HAIR inside of my crepe. I pulled and pulled to make sure I was seeing what I thought it was. I showed my colleague and she was equally disgusted. I ran to bathroom because my stomach was now unsettled and I was left wondering if I had consumed any other strands of hair without my knowledge. I didn't finish my tea and didn't want to dine anymore because my mood had been thrown off.

My colleague paid for her meal and the tall blonde haired sales associate was asking for me to pay for the remainder of my meal. I don't know what is customary for Oasis but at other establishments when a customer receives unsatisfactory service especially in cases of a health hazard like having a strand of hair baked into their crepe, the customer does not pay for their bill.

Anywho she kept insisting I pay, my colleague was trying to get her to understand how off putting this whole incident was so finally she didn't charge me. I am just so disappointed because this was a space I could have seen myself visiting many times to study or relax with a good book & tea. I really loved the decor and the overall feel but yesterday will be my first and last visit.

The employees should have to wear netting when dealing with the food so that a strand of hair doesn't end up in other people's food.

Calm space, easy to focus, and it's always a pleasure to chat with Robert, the owner. They have interesting events every night of the week, including free movies on Fridays. Plus they have Indian food from Vimala's, which can't be beat.

There is one viable strategy to avoid the perhaps extinction-level threats we now face (climate change, Fukishima, WWIII, GMOs. tracking, corruption in high pla...ces, etc). This strategy has been foretold and heralded in many indigenous prophecies, spiritual esoteric schools and channelings from loving - but not human - beings. It is beautifully simple but not easy but much easier than not enacting it.

What is this strategy? For each of us to claim ourselves as teachers of love and to heal our one/seven billionth of the planet with our unconditional love, forgiveness and compassion. As we do, we will hit a tipping point and precipitate a global quantum transformation of our species from fear to love.

The present crisis we face are designed to be the "midwives" of this coming age. To accomplish this is why we incarnated here. It is not only doable it is certain - certain that all of our Creator's children would one day remember their own divinity and that we have never left our Creator's grace and love except in our temporary dream of separation.

I AM

I AM is the story of a successful Hollywood director, Tom Shadyac (LIAR LIAR, NUTTY PROFESSOR, BRUCE ALMIGHTY), who experienced a life threatening head injury, and his ensuing journey to try and answer two very basic questions: What s wrong with our world? and What can we do about it?

With a film crew of four, Tom visits some of today s great minds, including authors, poets, teachers, religious leaders, and scientists (Howard Zinn, Lynn McTaggart, Desmond Tutu, Thom Harmann, Coleman Barks) searching for the fundamental endemic problem that causes all of the other problems, while simultaneously reflecting on this own life choices of excess, greed and eventual healing.

Memoirs of an Ex-Hippie: Seven Years in the Counterculture
A one-man play by author and Oasis founder Robert Roskind, set to photos and the music of the era!

The counterculture of the 60s and 70s has been viewed as everything from naive to hedonistic. However, most of these views were formed by observing the movement from the outside. "Memoirs of an Ex-Hippie" offers a vastly different perspective, one developed from within. After graduating college in 1968, Robert Roskind hit the road for seven years. Roskind's travels lead him into the heart of the counterculture--to Esalen Institute, Tassajara Hot Springs, Big Sur, Vancouver Island, the communes of Oregon and North Carolina, Altamont Pop Festival, Mt. Shasta, the Haight-Ashbury and the "motherland"--Northern California. His personal odyssey, sometimes profane and funny, sometimes profound and serious, reveals this tumultuous era as a cultural and spiritual renaissance that birthed many of the solutions to problems humanity now faces.

Robert Roskind is the author of twelve books including Rasta Heart: A Journey into One Love, The Beauty Path: A Native American Journey into One Love, The Gathering of the Healers, In the Spirit of Marriage and In the Spirit of Business. He is also the producer of a record-breaking PBS series and the organizer of over 200 One Love Events in the U.S. and Jamaica. He lives in Carrboro and operates the Oasis.

Elders’ Circle – Share Your Challenges/Share Your Wisdom
Everyone is welcome and everyone is an elder!...
Several years ago, I wrote a book in collaboration with the Mayan Elder, Tata Pedro Cruz, who lived on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. He was a member of the Scat Mulaj, the spiritual elders of the village. In his ancient Mayan village of San Pedro and the nearby village of Santiago Atitlan, every day until the practice stopped in the mid-1990s, the Scat Mulaj would gather in the town square to hear the villagers’ problems—which in these poor villages were many. This was the “elder wall” and I think every village, town and city now needs one.

As Martin Prechtel writes in his book, Long Life, Honey in the Heart: In their initiated calm they knew that there was no cure for the unfairness and hardship in any human’s life. To the Tzutujil, people were not put into this world to have a good time: they were put here to be beautiful . . . whatever they came up with was masterfully engineered to keep suffering from escalating into mass depression . . . Being heard by the elders and the village at large didn’t fix anything, but it made life more bearable because we were together, in love with our adventure of our tiny collective.

SHE’S BEAUTIFUL WHEN SHE’S ANGRY
SHE’S BEAUTIFUL WHEN SHE’S ANGRY is the provocative, rousing and often humorous account of the birth of the women s liberation movement in the late 1960s through to its contemporary manifestations in the new millennium, direct from the women who lived it. An essential chronicle of the movement that elevated women out of their second-class status, SHE S BEAUTIFUL… champions the brilliant women at the forefront of the seismic changes of the time as well as those who continue to bang the drum of equality today.

The film was created by Charlie Morris, a documentary filmmaker and a Carrboro local. The movie was made with a budget of ZERO dollars and with the effort of numerous dedicated local volunteers. Bolin Creek Unpaved premiered at the Carrboro Arts Center to 290 people, nearly selling out the theatre in Carrboro, NC on Sunday January 15th, 2017. The filmmaker then contacted Robert of the Oasis to inquire about a special screening there. After the Oasis screening a special guest speaker will be on hand to chat about a little known history of Horace Williams Airport and the UNC land exchange that led to the creek's currents existence.

Signs that the planet is now entering a period of intense dynamic tension between the vibration of love and fear are everywhere. However, these two global vibra...tions are not visible to all at this time. Since birth, we have each been fitted with a pair of "reality-viewing glasses" that has distorted our vision of the true "Reality."

The commonly shared lenses of these glasses are three main lies: that we are separate from each other, separate from the Earth and separate from our Creator. Then our glasses are customized for each of us with lenses that distort our perception by showing us "the world" that we personally must fit into (what we "should" say, do, dress, believe, understand, present to others, etc.).

Now, people are awakening everywhere and lifting these glasses and often our first response is shock and dismay that we were fooled for so long by so many, so cleverly. This often gives way to anger, frustration and fear as we view global-wide exploitation, war and the perverse manipulation of innocent masses. The "matrix" of misguided power becomes sharply in focus.

This period of disorientation is understandable and will remain until we fit ourselves with our own new set of glasses, the lenses of which include three truths: that we are one with each other, one with the Earth and one with our Creator. From these truths flows the core understanding that we are each incarnating on this planet - this huge round "teaching device" - to learn and teach love. Other lenses can be added as needed to assist this primary lens (spiritual paths, yoga, healthy diets, exercise, time in nature, holistic health, etc.).

And as these lenses begin to adjust and later dominate our world view, what appears is yet another matrix - one much stronger than the old-paradigm one - and it then comes into clear focus. It is a matrix of Divine Love that permeates every moment of our lives, every encounter, every situation - overlaying what appears to be a painful, often sordid world that is in "Reality" seven billion of us searching, yearning, grasping, asking for love in so many convoluted forms.

And this vibration of Divine Love can and will work through each of us as we change our "glasses," as we change our worldview to extend this love to all. And by doing so - by offering others the love they yearn for - we solidify it in ourselves.
