Hello Friends of Old School by Steeple People! You may be wondering why we aren't open yet. Never fear - we will open this spring! Our best guess is sometime during May. Our entire building was gutted and renovated. Now, we're waiting to get a Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Minneapolis. Once we have the Certificate, we'll be able to figure out when we can start accepting donations at 1901 Nicollet and when we'll open for business. If you just can't wait to donate, you can bring donations to our van in the parking lot of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church (511 Groveland Ave, Mpls) on Sunday mornings from 9 am to 11:30 am. Our Most Exciting News is that we hired a fabulous manager, Ms. Katie Stone. Katie brings a wealth of retail, resale, and managerial experience to our organization. She jumped right into the operation, wielding a paint roller like a pro! If you watch the video clip, you just might catch a glimpse of Katie. We're looking forward to introducing you to our new space. While you wait patiently, you can keep track of us here on Facebook (@OldSchoolBySteeplePeople) or on Instagram (@oldschoolthrifty). Regular email works as well (info@oldschoolthrifty.org). With love, peace, and thrift – Old School by Steeple People

THE VAN PLAN

Hello!

The Old School by Steeple People van will NOT be in the parking lot of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church on Sunday mornings for the next couple weeks due to several factors:

...

1) construction on 94

2) construction in our store space at 1901 Nicollet. We don't want our lovely donations to get covered in sheetrock dust!

3) Mother's Day

4) Memorial Day

Our next donation collection in the parking lot will be Sunday June 3 from 9 am - 11:30 am.

Thank you so much for your ongoing generosity and support. We are working hard to make Old School by Steeple People better than ever!

With Love, Peace, and Thrift,

Old School by Steeple People

We stuffed the van completely full in the parking lot of Hennepin Ave United Methodist Church this morning! Tony could barely keep it contained. Thanks everyone for donating and we just can't wait for you to see the new space. Hopefully, in the merry month of May!

Heidi, President of our Board of Directors, folks! She gifted us a beautiful performance to close out tonight's meeting. What a treat, thanks Heidi! #oldschoolthrifty

Imagine these beauties filled with thrifty books. Ahhhhmazing!! Brian from @findfurnish is an Old School hero. He donated these lovely book shelves AND delivered them to our new store. Why? Because he’s nice, and so was Steeple People. People being nice to people, as in Minnesota nice to people. You donate, we sell things, we give the money to charities in the Twin Cities. Thanks so much for helping us get set-up, Brian❤️ #allforcharity #findfurnish #kindsoul #thanksamillion #ittakesavillage #oldschoolthrifty #oldschoolbysteeplepeople #newstore #staytuned #openingsoon

Power Plumbing did a great job roughing in our plumbing, so today was about patching the wall and cutting holes in our donated cabinets for our new plumbing! Austin rocked out, and got the job done right. Next up, sink hole and some mud #partywooo #thanksgenoandjoe #thanksaustin #breakroomsink #workcanbefun #volunteeringisfunner #oldschoolthrifty #oldschoolbysteeplepeople @ Minneapolis, Minnesota

Yesterday was a great success, we emptied our storage locker into the store! It took 6 vehicles (including a 20’ U-Haul) and many hands. It takes a village, volunteer opportunities coming soon! Thanks to Anne, Heidi, Katie, Alicia, Dan, Tony, Ed, Blake, Jeff, Jim and Julia. We did it❤️ #storagelocker #movingday #unleashthebeast #oldschoolminnesota #oldschoolbysteeplepeople #oldschoolthrifty @ St.Paul/ Minneapolis

Look at the cute vintage planters that Jourdan of English Ivy Estate Sales donated! My young friend MGS helped me fill them up with Cuban Oregano cuttings. They'll be ready for you when Old School opens.

Keys 4/4 Kids gave us such an amazing deal on piano fronts that we bought 16! Now we can't wait to see what our contractor, Austin Frizzell, creates with the beautiful wood! Thank you Bert & Grant. We'll be sure to send folks out to your new Keys 4/4 Kids store at the Sunray Shopping Center: 2099 Old Hudson Rd, St Paul, MN 55119.
