Advice from an amazing monster artist...use white in your paintings and drawings. Any art without it, is smothered of breathing and living. There is colorful, and then there is colorless. Colorless means that the work is not giving that saturation of color. It is breathing through white, that is light and life.

Hi! My personal website has been down for a while. Very soon it will be back up.
An unpleasant Web designer took it down because of some pettiness and didn't tell me. I have a friend working on a new one for me.

You could pay $118 on Amazon for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's catalog The Art of Illumination: The Limbourg Brothers and the Belles Heures of Jean de France, Duc de Berry.

When I was a child, back in the 50's, Cy Twombly would visit Knox Martin, my father, as did Bob Rauschenberg. I would be drawing, using pastels. On this particular day when he came to visit, and Cy would watch me draw. He commented that this is the way he wanted to do art. A few times he joined in on my pastels. His works resemble my drawings of that time. His works sell for millions.

It's no surprise that the darling of the Tea Party has come out against federal arts funding.

Here's what she had to say on the matter in 2011, during an appearance on Sean Hannity's Fox News show: "NPR, National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, all those kind of frivolous things that government shouldn't be in the business of funding with tax dollars—those should all be on the chopping block as we talk about the $14-trillion debt that we're going to hand to our kids and our grandkids. Yes, those are the type of things that for more than one reason need to be cut."
