Check out this short video at http://annualreport17.emhs.org/…/Community-Service-(1).aspx… to see local Kiwaianians in action. Thanks to the Presque Isle Kiwanis Club for supporting this program in their own back yard.
When they questioned him, the boy replied very matter-of-factly that cattails were safe to eat.
They soon realized he was eating that plant because he was hung...ry. Learn how TAMC and its partners solved this problem in our annual report. http://annualreport17.emhs.org/…/Community-Service-(1).aspx…
This week's Kiwanis Spotlight is on Heidi Froehlich Rackliffe. Heidi and her husband of 10 years, Ryan, live in Washburn with their two children, Owen (age 6) and Kaylee (age 3). The Rackliffes love animals and they currently have a pug names Alley and a rescued lab mix named Chloe.

When we asked Heidi why she joined Kiwanis, she responded, "I knew I wanted to be a part of a community organization as it was important for me to be an active member of my community- the community I want children to be raised in. With my previous experience of being a member of my High School’s Key Club (Kiwanis version of high school aged youth) Kiwanis just made sense. My job as a family coach at ACAP requires me to be involved with partnerships and community relationships-Kiwanis has been the perfect place for me to both give back as well as well as be current and up to date with everything going on both in and around our community - giving me the best opportunity to better serve my clients to the best of my ability'.
If you see Heidi out and about in our community, please thank her for all she does to make our community a better place to live.
Drawing today at noon! Did you purchase your tickets? Let Susan Watson know how many you want! Valued at over $600 and all money goes towards local scholarships!
This week the Kiwanis Spotlight is on our newest member, Jennifer Bennett Deschene. Jenn, her husband Clint, daughter Reagen (age 11), son Duke (age 7), and golden doodle Ridley reside in Presque Isle.
Jenn has been employed by University Credit Union since November of 2017. She enjoys travelling, beaches, trying new recipes, exercising, playing pickleball and watching the Celtics. She enjoys interior & exterior painting. She finds painting therapeutic. She also enjoy h...ome decorating and entertaining.
When we asked Jenn why she joined Kiwanis she responded, "I enjoy being involved with organizations that give back to the people right here in our very own community. It’s wonderful to see how our combined, volunteer efforts of the club are making positive impacts all around us. Kiwanis is one of those organizations that believes that children are our future and are committed to working together to make our community a better place to live and hopefully these children will grow up and stay in this area to raise their own families. My husband and I both grew up in this area and moved away after college. After residing in different areas of the State of Maine over a 14 year period, we ultimately decided to come back to The County to be closer to family and raise our children in a place that we grew up and had fond memories of. Presque Isle really is a special place and has something to offer for everyone. My children have enjoyed being back here in a close knit community with lots of friendly faces and people who are always willing to lend a hand and give back to their community! "
If you see Jenn, please congratulate her on being the newest member of Presque Isle Kiwanis Club.
