Sometimes a PNM employee or authorized contractor, will request access to a customer's yard in order to work on poles, power lines, transformers or meters that may be located on the property. All employees wear clothing clearly marked with the PNM logo, and carry ID cards with them. If you ever question whether the person is a legitimate representative of PNM, feel free to ask them for identification, or you may contact us at 888-DIAL-PNM to verify. Thank you for helping to keep our employees safe, to allow us to deliver safe reliable energy to your home.

Valentine's Day is just one of many days in the year for you to tell the people in your life how much they mean to you. But if you, or anyone you know receives balloons today, please show them this video that was sent to us from our friends at Southern California Edison (SCE), and remind them to dispose of the balloons properly, especially the Mylar balloons. DO NOT let them go into the air, because they can become entangled in power lines and cause fires, explosions and outages. Simply deflate them and place them in the trash when you are done enjoying them. Have a safe, and enjoyable Valentine's Day!

Last week the PNM Home Works energy efficiency program visited 35 elementary schools in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Rio Rancho with an important message. The program teaches the importance of saving energy, protecting natural resources, and being environmentally conscious. More than 3,000 fifth graders received a starter kit with easy-to-install items, including an efficient-flow shower head, shower timer, faucet aerators, LEDs, and an LED night light. The program, now in its fourth year, has provided kits to more than 26,000 fifth graders across New Mexico.

We are receiving reports from customers in Las Vegas, Santa Fe, and Alamogordo who are getting calls from scammers saying that they owe money to PNM and are threatening disconnection of service if they don't pay up through prepaid cards. A couple of the numbers these calls are coming from are 855-832-9822 and 855-832-4822. To make matters worse, when customers call back the number, the scammers have figured out a way to have their recording sound similar to our PNM Contact Ce...nter's recordings. Sadly, this is not a new scam but here are some things you can look for to protect yourself from falling victim to it. If you receive a call from someone at this number, or any other number, claiming to work with PNM and asking you for money, we suggest checking your bill for a past due notice. PNM will never ask you for payment in prepaid cards, and if you feel like the phone call is suspicious in any way, hang up and call PNM directly at 888-DIAL-PNM.
