This week's "Through the Woods" by Aaron Horrell.

The insect I have photographed here only has two wings. Bees and wasps have four wings. Obviously, this insect is a fly. More specifically, it is a fly known as a flower fly. There are many different kinds and sizes of flower flies in North America -- so many, in fact, that entomologists have diffic...

Anybody need a dinosaur painted on their cheek? Butterfly? Catfish? Flower? I'll be there with my face paints Saturday afternoon. Look for the guy with the b...lack hat. And don't forget to make a small donation to Bollinger County 4-H paint-for-a-cause and help us finish paint the big painting!! It's fun and easy, and you can be an artist for a minute even if you've never held a paint brush in your life.

Most live in damp, dark places, and most have no eyes. The one I photographed here is common in Southeast Missouri. I have s...

This week's "Through the Woods" by Aaron Horrell.

I found this scene on Aug. 15 after several days of wet weather. The snails are tiny land snails of the discidae family. They have congregated on a slimy, unappealing fungus called "jelly fungi." Jelly fungi will dry up and be almost unnoticeable on dead wood during dry weather...

Happenings at the St. Jude Children's Hospital Fundraiser at Bark's Plantation today.

Here's Muzzie! Do you see his heart? Who wants to ride in a wagon pulled ...by a beautiful team of mules? Elvis was in Bollinger County today! He passed out teddy bears and leis. Now you can say you've seen a squirrel pet a dog. A little fella had a cool fish painted on his cheek.

One of my recent pet portraits. These two dogs are very special, and I enjoyed capturing their personalities. This is another painting done in oil pastel under ...UV protective glass. Don't hesitate to message me if you or someone you know is interested in commissioning a painting of your own.
