Consumers, professionals and industry partners serving the bleeding disorders community are descending on Chicago, IL this week, between August 24-26th, 2017 for the National Hemophilia Foundation's (NHF) Annual Meeting. There, attendees will once again refresh their information and education about living with bleeding disorders; most importantly we will be reminded of how far treatment and care has come over these last 50 years ine the United Stats. We are very fortunate to ...live in this country, where treatment and care for bleeding disorders is state-of-the-art! We have much to thankful for in this community because 50 years ago living with this diagnosis was entirely different and frightening. But, living with it today is totally and amazingly AMAZING! LIVING a full quality and productive life are the key words here.... there is now so so much less death and disability involved when the patients adhere to the advances in care and treatment that are available. Plus, if a patient is enrolled and followed by the experts at a Hemophilia (Hemostasis) Thrombophilia Treatment Center they receive treatment that improves their quality of life and lessens mortality rates by over 60%. That is significant!!!! A list of treatment centers throughout the USA is available on the Center For Disease Control website at cdc.gov or the NHF website - enter "Hemophilia Treatment Centers near you" in the search box. For those of you who are attending the meeting in chicago, take lots of pictures, and post them here! It would be fun to see all the fun and experiences you had and about what you learned!

The PEP Program teaches parents many parenting skills, we call them "tools"! A very important tool parents will learn at a PEP weekend is "Who's the PARENT?".

This tool helps parents establish their role as “The Parent”. It is an important part of building the foundation the child needs to become a confident, capable, independent, mature adults.
