We must always remember our past, but that does not mean we must let it define us. As a Christian, I believe our state's flag has become a point of offense that needs to be removed. We need to begin having conversations about changing Mississippi's flag.

Response by the Mississippi House Republican Caucus on the delay tactics continued to be used by 41 House Democrats at taxpayers' expense.
"The actions of 41 House Democrats this afternoon to delay action on the Special Session budget bill is irresponsible and outrageous. These same Democrats have complained long and loud about declining state revenues and the Legislature’s budgeting priorities. Yet, by this reckless action today in voting not to suspend the rules to allow t...he budget bill to be debated, these Democrats have displayed their hypocrisy for the entire state to behold.
"Extending the Special Session by one additional, unnecessary day will cost taxpayers approximately $30,000. Where will this money go? It will go straight into the pockets of legislators who will now be compelled to spend an unnecessary day in Session at taxpayers’ expense. Democrats who voted not to suspend the rules, for absolutely no purpose other than to receive an extra payday, should spare fellow citizens any false pieties about the budgeting of taxpayer dollars."
No surprise here! Clinton makes the list.

The Realtor's Leadership Class stopped by the Capitol today to learn about how the Legislature works and how they can be involved. They shared information on how they're helping their communities, as well. We always appreciate visits from our constituents.
Grateful for Phil Bryant signing into law Senate Bill 2161, which allows students in C, D and F rated school districts to cross district lines to attend public charter schools.

With 2,500 new jobs coming to our state with the development of the new Continental Tire plant, one thing is clear: Mississippi is open for business.
The House just passed the largest job creation bill in the history of the state. Proud to work with Gov. Bryant, Lt. Gov. Reeves and the Mississippi Development authority to help bring 3,500 new jobs to Mississippi.
I am saddened to hear about the passing of Gil Carmichael today. He was a leader in ushering in a new wave of Republican leadership into Mississippi. Not only was he a loyal soldier in Mississippi’s Republican army, but he was also a great businessman and public servant for our country.
Looking forward to hearing a positive message from Governor Bryant in tonight's State of the State address. We have made tremendous progress over the last four years and I'm excited to work with the governor to help implement more conservative reforms.
Congratulations to the Jackson Junior League and the celebration of their 75th anniversary today. Honored to have them at the Capitol and grateful for their service to our community.

It was honor to speak with the Mississippi Energy Institute yesterday. Our continued energy exploration and development is critical to Mississippi's economic outlook, and we will aggressively champion policies that expand and enhance our production.
Today we honor the incredible legacy of a great American who gave his all to keep moving our nation forward.

Great meeting with a room full of future Mississippi leaders - the MSU students from the Stennis Institute. Not only are these students engaged in in the legislative process at a young age, but they are ensuring that Mississippi's future will have many bright days ahead.
