Rely on yourself and your neighbors!

Once again, there were appeals for donations to the Red Cross. And once again, local officials are saying the charity hasn’t delivered.

Our drill July 29 turned out a little differently than we expected. Rather than doing practical exercises, we made friends and connections. Full story on the blog...

We gathered in the parking lot to put up tents and inventory our supplies. There were about 20 folks there; I knew about half of them. We talked about how we can make ourselves safe, and about our …

Hangin' at the Hub!

Image may contain: one or more people, people standing, basketball court, tree, child, shoes and outdoor

The Phinney Hub will activate for the citywide Hub drill, Saturday, July 29, in the upper parking lot of Phinney Center at Phinney Ave. N & N 67th St. Setup begins at 8:30 AM, and public activities at 9:00 AM.

Our emphasis will be planning coordination between Phinney Hub and the new P-Patch Hubs designated by the City. We will also do some message passing via walkie-talkies and (maybe) ham radio.

Expect happy chaos with great people! For more information, visit PhinneyHub.org.

If at first you don't succeed...activate the Hub! We're restarting the Phinney Hub project with a focus on the central location at Phinney Neighborhood Center (Phinney Ave. & 67th St., in the upper parking lot).

The Phinney Hub is not the only Hub, but we know that in a disaster, people will come to the parking lot at the PNC. There should be some semblance of order there to greet them! Join us to open the Hub Box and the emergency shed, pull out the canopies and the equipment, and see what we've got to work with.

In an emergency, the point of a Hub is to figure what you can do with the people who are there and the equipment that you have. We'll engage in an objective-setting exercise to set the agenda for the Phinney Hub – and other Hubs in the neighborhood – in the coming months.
