There will be a Community Firewise Meeting on Wednesday June 28th from 1800-2000 (6p-8p) at City Hall (606 Manitou Ave).... This is open to the public for questions related to preparing your property for wildland fire and scheduling free property assessments.

We have an immediate need for a host family for a international student for MSHS! He arrives in August, but we need a host family match now! Hosts can be marrie...d, single, young couples, families with young children or teens, grandparents, empty-nesters... all loving families are needed!
Bektemir from Kyrgyzstan is 17. He can see but has low vision. He describes himself as open, cheerful and social. He was introduced to American culture through a camp and through his Access club and he likes the smiles and cheerful nature of Americans. He stays active after school with this club, chess club, dance lessons, and volunteering. He especially likes to volunteer for projects that help the environment and hopes to do volunteering when he is in the US. He enjoys playing volleyball with his brother or with his friends after school. He also loves horses and enjoys riding when he has the opportunity. He is the president of his school which includes helping teachers and organizing students. He feels confident making new friends and enjoys going to the park, cinema and concerts with them. His favorite school subjects are biology, chemistry and technology and he hopes to be a doctor in the future. His father past away a few years ago and he has taken on responsibilities to help in the home. He is compassionate and hopes to find ways to help the blind and the homeless in the future.He has earned a scholarship to come through the US Department of State and now he needs a host family!

A Westside Avenue Action Plan update:
On Monday, June 19, crews will be connecting the new 10-inch water line to the existing water main, 6 a.m.-2 p.m. This “tie-in” will result in temporary water service interruptions to businesses west of Beckers Lane.
On Wednesday, June 21, an 8-inch individual water line for the Roadway Inn will be connected to the existing water main, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. No water service interruptions are planned.
On Thursday, June 22, an 8-inch individual water line for the Park Row Hotel will be connected to the existing water main, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. No water service interruptions are planned.

Tues May 30, West Colorado Avenue / Manitou Avenue from Manitou springs sign to US 24 overpass 7am to 7pm - Complete eastbound closure; all traffic moved to single lane with flagger 7pm to 7am - left lanes in both directions will be closed.

Big changes are coming to the I25/Cimarron Interchange next week. There will be a lot of overnight closures on Cimarron, but by Friday the intersection below I25 should be fully operational
