It hit me on Monday that this was ending. Jenny and I were working side by side, Karen in her corner. The talk was light, there were jokes, the work was getting done. All my favorite things. And I realized this part of my life would only be like this for one more week. Most people don't get to know the day their life will change in advance. It's only part blessing. I treasure all the friendships that have been created, and the people are what I will miss the most. The road ahead is open and going in many directions. I'd like to take you all with me to see where it takes us. Are you ready for some adventures?
Hey there friends. It has been awhile! So much has happened during this year off, and more is to come. Traveled, worked on yard/house, re-connected with friends, sent a kid off to college (still haven't adjusted to that!), started walking every day (exercise always seems to be the first thing sacrificed when working) and have been spending a fair amount of time on this. I've been working with Anita's since they opened in Ferndale, and in the course of time have developed a gr...eat friendship with them and their staff. Between Joe's dad jokes and Jen's overwhelming niceness and their excellent business model, it wasn't a hard decision to work with them on their new ventures. I'll be working to create new items for their fast casual restaurant, and expanding desserts for the restaurants and their catering side. Most of my work will be done at their soon to be completed, off-site, commissary kitchen but my face will pop up at both locations often. Excited to see what we can offer you and what new things we can come up with together! Let me know what you think!
Hi everybody! So, this year ahead is affectionately being called a gap year by me. I'm taking a break from the day to day running of a business, getting a kid off to college and going back to what I love, making lots of tiny cookies ( gluten free and not!). The business is still here, just on hiatus for a bit. In the meantime, I started a new Instagram page called @life_and_cookies if you want to see what I'm up to. But I'll be checking in here often as well. Thanks for all your support!❤
So, some of you may not know that one of the big reasons for all the changes in my life recently was the diagnosis of a wheat allergy a year ago. It's changed how I look at everything, including wanting to make awesome desserts for those that can't enjoy what most people don't think twice about ( like these GF caramel date cakes I made for Anitas kitchen this weekend). But....my test results come back different every time, so I'm appealing to my customers with similar situations to help me find the ultimate allergy doctor, to figure this out definitively. Any recommendations? Thanks! ❤
Yesterday I delivered this wedding cake for a very lovely couple. They were nothing but a joy to work with. And it was my last, official wedding cake. November 1st will mark ten years of me holding the keys to 220 W. Nine Mile. I had no idea where I was headed, I just knew I wanted to be a part of a community that I loved and that I wanted to bake cookies. I accomplished that, and so, so much more. I have worked harder than I ever thought possible, slept less than I thought I... could function on, learned more than I can quantify and met more wonderful people than I can count. And now it is time to take a break. Over the next few months, I will be working with all of our friends at The Red Hook to integrate their gradual taking over of the kitchen. They will be learning all that will be needed to continue offering the same quality and consistency that I and my bakers have worked so hard at. And I hope that you are as excited as I am to see what the future holds!
You're just gonna have to wait till we get back from vacation to try one of the new ice cream flavor macarons we created.
Closed Thursday July 2nd thru Sunday July 5th. See you on the 6th!
