For 27 years, Ruth Bader Ginsburg brought her brilliant legal mind and her incorruptible honesty to the bench of the United States Supreme Court. She was a tough-minded fighter for women’s rights, for social justice, and for political honesty, and, as everyone knows, she became a model for women not only in the field of law but in every professional field. To me, she represented the best of the “American Dream,” because she was the child of a hard-working immigrant family, an...d she grew up to be one of the most respected figures in the country.
I got to know Justice Ginsburg personally during my years as General Director of Washington National Opera, because she was a great opera lover and often attended our performances. She was my best and most honest critic after each performance – she had genuine, absolute knowledge of each opera that I sang in or conducted. Other Justices also attended our performances from time to time, but, as I told her several times, she was always my favorite “Supreme.”
One of the most cherished and unforgettable days in my life was when we were both given honorary doctorates at Harvard University in 2011, and my spontaneous serenade to her on the stage after our acceptance speeches brought a big smile to her face.
The loss of Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a grave one for the United States, but for me it is also a personal one. My wife Marta and I send our deepest condolences to her family.
_________

Klassikpunk is at Wiener Staatsoper.

Placido Domingo.

Plácido Domingo has visited Budapest several times, he sang the role of Cavaradossi and Radamès in the Erkel Theatre, and although in the Opera House in 2009, at the final of the Opera Singing Competition in the Opera in the band ditch, and in 2016 as star guest of the Shakespeare evening He stepped on his world-meaning boards, so far he did not have the opportunity to introduce himself in the Ybl Palace. Domingo visited Budapest as a guest of Virtuoso talent show in the past few weeks, he still worked with the Opera Orchestra, but his old desire to play on the stage of Opera is still unfulfilled. Before yesterday, however, he said goodbye to the Hungarian capital to sing the title role of Simon Boccanegra in the Vienna Staatsoper, he gave some taste from Verdi's hero with a detail of Békeszózat.

A Maestro. Szuperzsűritag a Virtuózok szuperdöntőjében.

The Maestro. Super jury member in the super final of Virtuoso. He funnyly asked me why do I photograph my fingers? I replied to her that's my habit and then I'm surprised to notice that others are in the photos. We still laugh... ❤️ By the way, we know each other for sixteen years with Plácido Domingo.
