We are putting forth a call to action, in the name of claiming agency over our public spaces and meeting the needs of the communities we live in.
On Sunday 4/30, we are calling for the people of Portland to take to the streets, in their own neighborhoods, and in mutual aid with eachother, to autonomously address the needs of those specific neighborhoods.
Need an idea for actions to take? try some of these:...
- Patching Potholes!
- Increasing the visibility of potholes that you cant patch with high visibility paint!
- Installing/Painting Crosswalks!
- Installing/Painting Bike Lanes!
- Installing Stop Signs!
- Removing broken glass and debris from roadways!
- Knocking on neighbor's doors to introduce yourself!
- Calling community meetings to discuss the needs of your neighborhood!
We will be producing instructional videos in the coming weeks to share information about how to perform some of these actions.
We are also working on infrastructure to assist individuals and groups to take action throughout the city.

Thanks to everyone who came to our meeting today. We discussed briefly a call for a mass day of action, and we want to keep the ball rolling on that. Here is a poll to ask what day we should hold that action. Feel free to enter anything you want in the name field.

Airport Demonstration tomorrow at 8 am in support of detained Iranian woman, Alliah Ghandi. She was detained by customs and taken to NorCor holding facility in the Dalles. Expected to be getting taken back to PDX and placed on a plane at 8:30.
Just received this from a comrade:
URGENT! URGENT! URGENT! Customs have detained an Iranian woman at PDX and they are sending her back tomorrow morning unless we can change their minds. We have TWO LAWYERS at the airport right now and customs is refusing to: 1. allow her access to her lawyers; 2. consider material information the lawyers have. NOW IS THE TIME! PLEASE SHARE THIS ON YOUR FB PAGE. A news crew just showed up at the airport. The lawyers are trying to stall them but they will leave if there's nothing going on. A PROTEST WOULD KEEP THERE! Please go to PDX and demand that they release Alliah! #RELEASEALLIAH

Because we believe in building community solutions to the issues we face, outside of the state.
Because society portrays anarchists as only breaking windows and blocking roads.
Because when faced with anarchism as a political theory, statist often ask "But who will fix the roads."
Because the city of Portland refuses to adequately repair roads in a timely manner.
We are Portland Anarchist Road Care. We believe in community oriented direct action. We believe the state cares more about funding a militarized police force to suppress free speech than caring for and repairing the roads.
The city of Portland has shown gross negligence in its inadequate preventative care through this winter's storms, and through its slow repair of potholes as weather has improved. Daily, this negligence is an active danger to cyclists and causes damage to people's automobiles, and an increased risk of collision and bodily injury.
Portland Anarchist Road Care aims to mobilize crews throughout our city, in our neighborhoods, to patch our streets, build community, and continue to find solutions to community problems outside of the state.

We want to make something abundantly clear. We are against all coercive hierarchies in our society. We are not only opposed to the state, but also opposed to capitalism.
We believe that capitalism enforces hierarchy in our society to subjecting those with less capital to starvation, exposure, imprisonment, and lack of access basic human needs like healthcare and education.

Successful preliminary action today. We patched 5 potholes on SE Salmon, between 37th and 39th. We will observe them over the following days and weeks to see how lasting our patches are.
