In this clip, Portland firefighters discuss the difficult extrication they worked on yesterday when a large truck went over an overpass and fell over 60 feet to the ground and the driver was pinned in. PF&Rers go through in-depth training on pin-ins and the many tools needed in each occurrence. Our best wishes to the driver who was hospitalized.
We fought a complicated fire in SE Portland this afternoon. A resident was injured and there were challenges with live electrical lines present. Because there was reported drug activity in the basement, PF&R's Haz-Mat team was called in to investigate and optimize the scene. Here's video from the scene.
Check out PF&R's Lt. Damon Simmons as he shares fireworks safety tips and talks about the consequences of illegal fireworks use this July 4th on KATU's AM Northwest.

These Men and Woman are highly trained civilian and structural rescue specialists. They on a daily basis put their own lives in danger to save people, pets and structures.

I was watching a couple we...eks ago while 5 firefighters were 70’ in the air on top of a apartment building in the rain trying to put a attic fire out. They were up there without harness and ropes getting their job done.

These people are super hero’s in human skins.

Thank you Portland Fire And Rescue for all you do in our community.

We just had our clinic reinspected by Brent Cavanias. He had pointed out some potential safety problems that have been addressed. We ( the staff ) want to thank Brent for showing us these issues and ...for his professionalism. It was a pleasure working with him. See More

When I called the non emergency dispatch to save a family of squirrels trapped in a well, I expected an old guy with a net to show up, not a hook and ladder with several very nice (and handsome) They worked as a team and were very determined to reach and save them. They saved the lives of three of the four. A small gesture that was much appreciated. See More

What an outstanding group of men and women firefighters we have here in the city of Portland! A big sincere thank you (to each of you) for your loyal service to our city and its citizens... and doubt how much you are appreciated, loved and admired. (So grateful everyone is okay after the NW 23rd Ave explosion.) See More

Yesterday was a harrowing day. Tigger got into a heating vent in the bathroom on the main floor, and got stuck! I called 911 and they sent a fire truck within minutes. Four firefighters and their supe...rvisor worked persistently and creatively to find a way to get him out. They had to cut out a metal portion in a vent in the basement, as he had traveled down through the vent system. A construction worker who happened to be working nearby helped out with tools and offering to help. Eventually I was able to pull him out.
I am so grateful to the Portland Fire & Rescue firefighters, they valued the life of this beautiful (but naughty!) living being and saved him.

The fire truck stopped at the house next to mine this morning about a leaf-burning issue. (There was no problem.) I just want to say that our Portland Fire people sure do look fine in their uniforms.... We have a very good-looking, fully trained group. I am so proud of all of you.

Everyone was really nice for the 9/11 blood drive. And one of the firefighters didn't mind sharing his story from fifteen years ago with us. Really great group.

I'm sure the men and women of this organization have a backbone and deserve a higher rating. This one star goes directly on the forehead of a the spineless jellyfish the firefighters need to address by chief.

My son Chastain, who is a firefighter in South Carolina, was recently chosen by the Aesthetic Smile Studio as a finalist in their smile make over contest. The winner will be determined by the number o...f "likes" on the picture of his face. I would so appreciate it if you would take a minute to vote for him. If you click on the link below, he will be the first of the 6 pictures posted. (You will also see his name under the picture) Also, if you could “share” the link for others to vote, that would be awesome! Chastain has 8 congenital missing permanent teeth and would be so thrilled to be the winner of such a wonderful gift. Thank you so much!
