While last night's vote on #DefundingOPD showed a blatant disregard for the will of the people of Oakland, we did successfully move City Council to unanimously vote yes on extending the eviction moratorium until the end of the local state of emergency and passing the Tenant Protection Upgrades. With how things are going, we expect this will mean the moratorium will last until at least early next year.

This vote was a huge shift for some of the council members and it's becaus...e of y'all's organizing power. Councilmember Gallo and Taylor, two key swing votes with influence in the "equity caucus", named all the messages they received from their constituents as the reason for their decisions.
