This Memorial Day we hope that you all do something special with loved ones and take the time to remember all those who have given their lives for our freedom. We are truly blessed. <3

Judy Trophy finished this darling Tumbler Flag wall hanging just in time for Memorial Day. Embroidered on it is, "Land of the free and the home of the brave."

This Memorial Day we honor our fallen soldiers, those who gave their lives for their country. I was interested to learn that the history of Memorial Day was shaped by women, who observed the earliest versions of Memorial Day by decorating the graves of those lost in the Civil War. These women left us a legacy worth carrying on, by commemorating those who must never be forgotten. How much we have to be thankful for! We’re so grateful for all those who have gone before us. Happy Memorial Day from all of us at Missouri Star. <3

Shelley Platt shared this photo of her mother with us and here's what she had to say about it, "This quilt was recently discovered in my cousin Shelley's attic. I asked her to send it to my mom, since it was made by my mom's mother. My mom will be 103 in July and was just tickled to have the quilt. My mom is a handquilter herself, although she had to give it up when she was 100 because of painful thumbs."

You can tell that this beautiful quilt has brought joy to many over the years. We're so glad that it was found and your mother is able to enjoy it once again. Thanks for sharing, Shelley! <3

Are there any old quilts that have stayed in your family over the years? We'd love to hear all about them!

Did you know that the sun isn't actually yellow? Nope, it's actually all of the colors combined! When certain wavelengths of all those colors mixed together finally reach us hear on earth it appears to be yellow (or red or orange) to us! Pretty crazy, right? What's your favorite "modern" quilting tool?

School is out and it's warming up. Summer is right around the corner! We hope you'll get the chance to come visit us here at MSQC this Summer, we'll even have extended hours May 31st through September 3rd! Monday through Wednesday we'll be open from 9am to 5pm and Thursday through Saturday from 9am to 7pm. We will be closed May 30th in observance of Memorial Day. :)
