Do you love to garden but don't have the room at your house? Most city's/towns in your local Boone Co. area have a community garden! For a small fee you can rent space for our own garden for the season. Remember every community garden has its own set fees and rules. Check out your local Parks Department for more details. If you live in Whitestown or near by their Parks Department still has a few open plots for this season.

The Home & Garden Club took a trip to Hilltop Orchids near Cloverdale, IN. The Club learned about growing orchids as well as visited the Fern Cliff Preserve and ate lunch at Almost Home in Greencastle, IN. Members of the club also visited an Amish store while they were out and about. A bonus for Home & Garden club members, the owner of Hilltop Orchids showed the group her long arm quilter. If you would like to become a member of the Home & Garden Club please give the BCEH office a phone call for more information at 765.482.0750 Monday-Friday.

Cooking Club: A new cooking club has been formed. We have had 2 meetings with 14 and 13 attending respectively. The cooking club meets the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the dining room at the Community Building. At our first meeting we talked about Cooking with Herbs and Spices. Our second meeting we talked about Knives, how to use them and care for them and how to chop, dice, mince, and julienne vegetables.

Our June meeting we will be a learning about making a... nutritious vegetable salad using our new chopping skills to cut the vegetables. In July we will be learning how to cut up and bone a whole chicken. And in Au-gust we will be learning how to cut up a watermelon and pineapple.

Please let your friends know about this new club if they are interested in cooking! We voted on a name for the club, which will be announced at the next meeting.

Linda Fahrenbach and Debbie Kremer are co-chairing the club for the first year.

For more information please call the BCEH office.
