After thinking about this game for a while, here are my thoughts.
Teams that want to be #1 at a regional or championship will need to be able to: get the fuel r...anking point themselves, place 2-3 gears per match, and rope climb.
Placing gears is a more important strategy for winning events, but if you want to control your destiny you need to score the fuel.
The winning alliance at an average event will be 1 robot who can get the fuel RP themselves, 1 robot that can do 6+ gears, and a robot that can do 2-3 gears (passively).
I can't say exactly what my team will build, because we are fine with being the support role as well as the alliance captain, but you need both types of robots to be successful in Steamworks.
