The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has announced a tentative schedule for the fall razor clam season set to begin in early October.

Final approval of all scheduled openings will depend on results of marine toxin tests, which are usually conducted about a week before a dig is scheduled to begin.

"We're releasing a tentative schedule to give people plenty of time to make plans to go digging this fall," said Dan Ayres, coastal shellfish manager for WDFW.

State shellfish managers are also seeking public input on management options, including scheduling for spring digs. Comments on the spring digs can be sent via email to razorclams@dfw.wa.gov.

A summary of last season and an overview of the recently completed razor clam stock assessment are available in WDFW's 2017-18 Razor Clam Management Plan at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fi…/shellfish/razorclams/seasons_set.html.

Based on beach surveys conducted this summer, WDFW estimates the total razor clam population on Washington's beaches has decreased significantly from last season, which means fewer days of digging this season.

Ayres said the decline in clam populations was likely caused, at least in part, by an extended period of low salinity in surf zone ocean waters, particularly those near Long Beach and Twin Harbors.

"The total number of clams may be down this year, but we still expect good digging on most beaches," Ayres said.

Has everything! Full hook up, free wifi, can rent a fire pit for $10 a night (cool pit), has firewood for sale, jungle gym for kids, a dog park, clean sites, cl...ean facilities, clean grounds, closest to the ocean than any other camping sites along the Olympic Peninsula, a friendly welcoming host who helps folks back their rigs into their spots, very serene, and lots of room in the back to enjoy a relaxing night by the fire. We enjoyed our first camping trip and we will definitely be back here See More

Only go here if you're like 70+ years old and want quiet time all day, and like to sit in your trailer and read books. If that's what you like then this is the ...place for you! And if you have kids don't let them be up past 8 or you'll get complaints. Otherwise... it's so so. Right on top of each other though See More

Off the main hwy, and easy to get to. It should be a Good Sam Park intead of Driftwood in town. Right on the ocean side with trails to the beach. Not far from town. Will definitely use for our occasional to the coast.

We got there a bit early that day and the lady(?) came rushing out of her house and barked at us.
It's not an ocean view, it's a parking lot with ocean access.
The deposit required is the total of all the days you stay. Not a minimal deposit but the ENTIRE booking stay.

We had a wonderful week at Andersen's! Owners and camp hosts were friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and in working order. We stayed in a forest spot near the front of the park and it was quiet, clean, and private. Enjoyed every minute!

In 7 years of camping, I have never been treated with less respect and with a more negative attitude than this park host offered us. We showed up 1/2 hour before office hours, and she was NOT happy. The host needs an attitude adjustment and customer service training.

We stayed here in a cottage for a week and had a wonderful time. I was pleasantly surprised I could see the ocean (at the end of the rv park) from the deck and ...bedroom. We found everything we needed in the kitchen to create our healthy feasts and we were delighted it was actually a full sized refrigerator and stove and not some mini kitchenette versions . The shower water pressure was good with long hot water. The bed was very comfortable for my fussy back and we could hear waves at night. The beach was a quick walk through the park and some dunes to get to the water. Very relaxing. Our Thanks to the staff that were so nice and helpful. We will be back. See More

Possibly the rudest park host I have ever met. She may be the owner,I don't know. Very very rude and the bathrooms are filthy and smelly.
